Chapter 721: Ruining Her Reputation

Meanwhile, Jessica learned of the news. Seeing Roxanne's name high on the list, a gloomy expression clouded her face. That woman was not only working with Jack, but her name was prominently featured. Jessica recalled the distance between Roxanne and Jack the other night. What had Roxanne done to deserve this?

After a long stare, an insidious look flashed in Jessica's eyes. She would reveal Roxanne's "true colors"โ€”a pretty face was all she was, in Jessica's opinion. Jessica had no idea what Roxanne had done to earn Jack's favor, and she couldn't believe Roxanne's supposed arrogance. She would expose Roxanne, ruining her career in the local medical industry. Then, Jack would never be with her, regardless of her looks!

The thought of Roxanne's public ridicule filled Jessica with elation. Having formulated her plan, the grim-faced Jessica made several calls.

That afternoon, Stephenโ€™s face darkened at the sight of Jessicaโ€™s empty seat. He'd worked hard to secure an opportunity to apologize to Lucian. He never expected his daughter to thwart his plans. All his efforts would be wasted if Jessica refused to apologize. Her late arrival for lunch made it clear she felt no remorse.

Just as Stephen's frustration mounted, footsteps sounded from upstairs, and Jessica appeared. Relief washed over Stephen, and his tone softened. "Have you given the matter some thought?"

Jessica's expression darkened momentarily before regaining its composure. Smiling obediently, she replied, "Since you want this, I have no choice, even if I'm against it. Can you ask Ms. Jarvis if she's free tonight?"

Relieved, Stephen said, "All right. I'll check with her." He believed a swift apology from Roxanne was the best outcome; only then would Lucian release the Hightower Group.

After lunch, in front of Jessica, Stephen messaged Jack to check Roxanne's availability that night. Dread washed over Jack, but since it was Jessica, he didn't worry too much. He'd handle any tantrum.

Jack relayed the message to Roxanne, who readily agreed. He immediately confirmed the time and place with Stephen.

An icy glint appeared in Jessica's eyes upon hearing of the appointment. Worried about his daughter's impulsive behavior, Stephen cautioned, "Remember to mind your attitude this evening. Ms. Jarvis has powerful connections; we can't afford to offend her."

His words only intensified Jessica's contempt and fueled her desire to ruin Roxanne's reputation. That evening, Jessica left early. The naive Stephen, believing she was truly going to apologize, watched her leave.
