Chapter 741: Take Care of You

Aubree was furious. Lucian hadn't replied, even after some time. Tenderly, she said, "I slipped and fell. I think I aggravated my car accident injury. It hurts terribly."

Lucian replied emotionlessly, "If the pain is severe, I'll send someone to the hospital. I have another meeting. Goodbye." He hung up.

Aubree gritted her teeth. "All right. Get back to your work then."

Her face grim, she stared at the darkened screen. The waitress, standing nearby, hesitantly offered, "Miss, let me accompany you to the hospital—"

Before the waitress finished, Aubree snapped, "Get lost!"

The waitress shuddered. She watched, aghast, as Aubree, complaining moments before of arm pain, used that very arm to sweep all the dishes onto the floor.

The waitress lamented silently, trapped and speechless. She frantically cleaned the mess, eager to escape Aubree's wrath.

Aubree, eyes reddened, panted heavily. Why is this happening? I’ve waited for Lucian for years, obediently by his side, yet he’s cold. He treats that bitch so well, even after her six-year absence! What's so special about her?

Her fury mounting, she dialed Sonya’s number.

Sonya answered quickly. "What's wrong, Aubree?"

Aubree sobbed, "Mrs. Farwell, I'm in pain."

Sonya's heart sank. "What happened? Didn't Lucian send someone?"

Aubree whimpered, "I'm at a hotel. I fell and worsened my injuries. I called Lucian, but he said he had work. My dad's still angry, so I only have you…"

Sonya frowned. "You're at a hotel?" She hadn't known Aubree was staying there after her argument with Samuel.

Heartache and frustration welled within Sonya. Lucian was mistreating the daughter-in-law she championed.

Aubree softly agreed. Then, she cleverly defended Lucian. "Lucian's always busy. It doesn't matter where I stay. Besides, Essie dislikes me, so I wanted to avoid upsetting her."

Sonya's voice came through the speaker. "Where are you? I'll pick you up."

A hint of smugness crossed Aubree's face. She timidly gave Sonya the hotel name.

Sonya hung up and sent her driver. Anger simmered within her. I entrusted Aubree to Lucian's care. He left her alone, neglected, in a hotel! He didn't even visit her during her relapse!
