Chapter 740: Ask Someone To Send You

After hanging up, Aubreeโ€™s thoughts centered on Lucianโ€™s actions toward Roxanne. She felt fortunate to have remained uninvolved; any interference would undoubtedly have been discovered by Lucian, leading to a fate similar to Jessica's. Yet, Lucian's blatant favoritism toward Roxanne threatened her position as his fiancรฉe. She needed to act.

Aubree spent the morning devising a plan, unsuccessfully. In the afternoon, while the waitress served her meal, an idea struck her. As the waitress transferred plates from the cart to the table, Aubree intervened.

โ€œThatโ€™s not needed. Iโ€™ll do it myself,โ€ Aubree said softly.

The waitress, startled, instinctively protested, โ€œThis is my obligation. Youโ€”โ€

Before she could finish, she was bumped.

โ€œAh!โ€ Aubree cried out, stumbling backward and falling to the floor, a grimace twisting her face.

The waitress, instantly aware of the presidential suiteโ€™s clientele, knew she couldn't afford to offend Aubree. Regardless of fault, the incident occurred during her service, making her responsible.

โ€œIโ€™m terribly sorry. It was my fault. Are you all right?โ€ the waitress apologized profusely.

Aubree clutched her arm. โ€œMy arm hurts terribly.โ€

Panic seized the waitress. โ€œIโ€™ll send you to the hospital immediately!โ€ She began to help Aubree up.

Aubree, however, had no intention of going to the hospital. She shook her head. โ€œThatโ€™s not needed. Iโ€™m going to make a phone call.โ€

The waitress, perplexed, remained where she was.

Aubree dialed Lucian, the call connecting after some time.

โ€œWhatโ€™s the matter?โ€ Lucian asked coldly, having just begun his lunch after finishing work.

An icy glint crossed Aubree's eyes at his indifference. โ€œLucian, my arm hurts,โ€ she said pitifully.

He frowned. โ€œGo to a hospital.โ€

Then, remembering his mother's instructions, he added, โ€œIโ€™ll ask someone to send you if necessary.โ€

Aubreeโ€™s face darkened. โ€œThatโ€™s not needed. Itโ€™s not severely injured, just painful. Itโ€™s inconvenient staying alone in the hotel; could I go to your place for a couple of days?โ€

The waitress, witnessing this exchange, was astonished. Aubreeโ€™s glare silenced her apprehension.

Lucian, on the other end, hesitated. Roxanne's wariness of his engagement to Aubree had hindered his advances. Their relationship was finally improving. Allowing Aubree to move in would jeopardize everything.
