Chapter 752: This Cannot Go On

Lucian stifled a laugh, noticing Roxanne's slightly smudged lipstick. She seemed still lost in thought when applying her makeup, completely unaware of the imperfection. The blank expression on her face tempted him to tease her. Giving in to his mischievous side, he reached out.

Roxanne flinched at his approaching hand, hastily stepping back. His hand hung in mid-air. He raised an eyebrow. "Do you have anything else, Mr. Farwell?" she asked cautiously.

A ghost of a smile played on his lips as he saw her fluster. "Your lipstick is out of line," he said calmly.

Roxanne's face flushed; she lowered her head, avoiding his gaze. "Thank you for reminding me, Mr. Farwell. I'll take care of it." She inclined her head in farewell and went inside with the children.

Watching them go, Lucian replayed Roxanne's blush at his near touch. Pleased with her reaction, he grinned. It was almost time for his meeting after dropping Estella off, so he left for the office.

Meanwhile, across the street, Aubree sat in a taxi, a dark expression on her face. She had just witnessed Lucian's interaction with Roxanne. His coldness toward her was starkly contrasted by his behavior with that woman.

When she saw Lucian's hand nearing Roxanne's lips, Aubree almost intervened.

"Miss, will you still be following the car?" the driver asked, uncertain as Lucian's car pulled away.

Aubree snapped out of her reverie, glaring at Roxanne's house. "No. Take me back," she said coldly.

The driver returned them to the Farwell residence. Catalina was surprised to see Aubree home so early. Aubree, remembering Catalina's defense of Estella the previous night, shot her a hostile glance. Catalina, though bewildered, remained silent, watching Aubree ascend the stairs.

Aubree's mind replayed Lucian's gentleness toward Roxanne. That little wretch! she thought. So meek with me, yet so forward with him! If not for her, he wouldn't have seen that woman this morning! It's all her fault! Her face twisted with anger.

She'd thought a threat would suffice, but Estella, emboldened by Roxanne, had ignored her completely.

This cannot continueโ€ฆ I must teach that girl a lesson and show her where her loyalties should lie! Aubree fixed her gaze on Estella's room, a grim determination hardening her features.
