Chapter 753: Acquisition By The Damaris Family

Lucian arrived at the office just in time for a scheduled meeting, immediately following his departure from Roxanne’s house. Upon exiting the conference room, he encountered a perturbed Cayden.

“Mr. Farwell,” Cayden said.

Lucian’s brows furrowed. “What’s the matter?”

“There’s a problem with our Queen Group project,” Cayden replied, his troubled expression evident.

Lucian’s face darkened. He returned to his office, Cayden silently following. After closing the door, Lucian inquired, “What’s the problem?” Their collaboration with Queen Group had been proceeding smoothly until now.

“The northwestern pharmaceutical company changed their minds at the last minute,” Cayden explained. “They refuse to accept our acquisition terms.”

Lucian frowned deeply. The acquisition was crucial to the project's success. Farwell Group and Queen Group had invested considerable effort, even making multiple concessions on the purchase price. An agreement had been reached, leaving only the contract signing. Yet, the pharmaceutical company had reneged.

“Why? Did they give a reason?” Lucian pressed.

Cayden’s perturbation intensified. “It’s the Damaris family. Their newly established research institute has contacted the pharmaceutical company. I don’t know what terms they offered.”

The Damaris family… The mention of them brought Jack to Lucian’s mind. Roxanne’s previous scandal remained partially unresolved; only her medical skills had been fully addressed. Her relationship with Jack remained unexplained. Now, the Damaris family was interfering with his project.

Lucian’s face hardened, the atmosphere growing tense.

“Mr. Farwell, should we increase the purchase price?” Cayden asked tentatively.

Lucian, snapping out of his thoughts, shook his head and walked to the window. “No. Let’s wait and see. Find out what conditions the Damaris family offered.” Blindly compromising would only invite further demands.

Cayden nodded, then hesitated. “I might be able to discover the Damaris family’s terms, but…”

Lucian, noticing Cayden’s hesitation, asked, “What is it?”

Cayden glanced at Lucian cautiously before speaking. “Ms. Jarvis is involved in the Damaris family’s new project. She might know something. We could ask her.”

Lucian’s expression darkened. Roxanne’s involvement and her relationship with Jack were undeniable, but using her felt inappropriate, especially in a business context.

Anticipating Lucian’s refusal, Cayden quickly added, “Don’t worry. I’ll explore other avenues.”

Lucian nodded. “Do so as soon as possible.”

Cayden agreed and left the office.
