Chapter 754: Promise Me First

Roxanne spent time with her three children. Since Estella had come inside, she'd been unhappy. Despite Roxanne and the other children's efforts, the girl remained low-spirited.

"Essie, what's bothering you?" Roxanne stopped playing, bringing Estella to sit on the carpet. Archie and Benny, trailing behind, watched expectantly.

Estella pursed her lips, thinking of Aubree, then looked at Roxanne. "If Ms. Jarvis knows Ms. Pearson is here," she worried, "she'll be upset. Daddy's still pursuing Ms. Jarvis. It would be bad if she misunderstands…"

Noticing Estella's concern, Roxanne frowned. "Whatever it is, tell me. I'll help."

Archie and Benny chimed in, "We'll help too! Essie, don't be sad."

Remembering Aubree's morning treatment, Estella felt aggrieved. "Why did Daddy let Ms. Pearson stay instead of us? I want to live with Ms. Jarvis, Archie, and Benny."

"Essie, we'll be worried sick if you don't tell us," Archie said seriously.

Estella glanced anxiously at Roxanne, who wore a troubled expression. "Ms. Jarvis…" Estella's anxiety grew, yet she feared Roxanne's misunderstanding.

Roxanne, feigning hurt, rose. "Essie, since you won't talk, I'll prepare lunch." She started to leave.

Estella grabbed her shirt. "Ms. Jarvis, don't go. I'll tell you."

Roxanne, her back to Estella, discreetly smiled at Archie and Benny. Relieved, they sat, waiting for Estella's confession.

Once Roxanne sat down, Estella said hesitantly, "Ms. Jarvis, promise you won't be angry with Daddy."

Roxanne frowned, unsure why Estella made such a request. She asked me not to be angry with Lucian. This must be about him. Lucian's behavior toward Estella came to mind.

"Did your daddy scold you?" Roxanne asked.

Estella vigorously shook her head. Her denial only deepened Roxanne's confusion. Why else would she ask me not to be angry? It seems serious…
