Chapter 760: No Right to Be Mad
After seeing Lucian and Estella off, Roxanne returned to the mansion with Archie and Benny and began preparing dinner. "Mommy," the two boys followed her into the kitchen. Roxanne stopped and asked, "What is it?"
"Why did you fight with Mr. Farwell?" Archie and Benny looked at her intently. Their question surprised her. "I didn'tโ"
She started to deny it, but her children interrupted. "We saw everything. You can't lie to children!" Roxanne was speechless. She'd had countless disagreements with Lucian, and Archie and Benny had always sided with her without asking for details. "Did Mr. Farwell upset you?"
Roxanne considered who was at fault, but couldn't decide. She finally shook her head and explained vaguely, "No. I was just talking to Mr. Farwell about Estella, and I became impatient."
Suspicion clouded Archie and Benny's faces. Roxanne stroked their heads. "All right, that's enough. Don't worry about the adults. You boys go play now. I have to prepare dinner."
"Archie and I are better than adults in some ways!" Benny argued. Roxanne understood; they could help her with some problems, but not relationship issues.
She gently ushered them from the kitchen. "I know you two are the best, but please don't cause trouble here!"
Without giving them a chance to reply, she returned to cooking. Archie and Benny looked crestfallen. They seemed to have failed in their mission, hoping Estella could get information from Lucian.
Driving back to the Farwell residence, Lucian noticed Estella staring at him in the rearview mirror. "What is it?" he asked.
Estella tilted her head. "Daddy, did you fight with Ms. Jarvis earlier?"
A dark look briefly crossed Lucian's eyes. "Why did you fight with Ms. Jarvis?" Estella pressed. "What if Ms. Jarvis starts ignoring us because she's mad?"
Lucian grimaced, realizing Estella blamed him. "I'm very mad, too." Estella's eyes widened. "Daddy, you shouldn't be mad!"
Lucian, already frustrated with Roxanne, almost laughed in exasperation. Not only was Estella on Roxanne's side, she thought he had no right to be angry. She seemed genuinely indignant. Since he wanted to court Ms. Jarvis, he couldn't be angry with her, let alone make her angry!
