Chapter 761: Worsen Her Condition
โWhy shouldnโt I?โ Lucian asked after a moment of silence.
โBecause youโre courting Ms. Jarvis! You have to make her happy!โ Estella replied matter-of-factly.
Lucian furrowed his brows. His gaze darkened. Even Estella knew that. How could he have forgotten? At the thought of Roxanneโs angry face, he chuckled self-deprecatingly. No wonder there was no progress, despite his persistent pursuit.
Coming back to his senses, he apologized. โSorry, I was wrong.โ
Estella hummed in satisfaction. Crossing her arms, she demanded, โWhat did you do wrong, Daddy?โ
Lucian glimpsed at her in the rearview mirror. โI shouldnโt have made Ms. Jarvis angry. I was too reckless.โ
Contented to hear his admission, Estella nodded. โWhy did you argue with Ms. Jarvis?โ
Lucian shook his head, amused. This little brat! Heโd admitted his mistake, yet she pressed further. Well, since she askedโฆ he would need her help in the future, after all.
โThereโs a misunderstanding,โ Lucian confessed. โYouโve seen what Iโve been doing for Ms. Jarvis, but she wonโt accept me. I felt anxious and wanted an explanation.โ He decided against mentioning his rival; a child didn't need to know that much.
Estella, while remaining on Roxanneโs side, was slightly worked up. โYou can ask me for help if youโre anxious. Donโt ever get mad at Ms. Jarvis again!โ
Lucian nodded. โOkay.โ
Estella continued to stare, unsatisfied. Meeting her glare in the mirror, Lucian pursed his lips. โI promise not to get mad at Ms. Jarvis anymore. Iโll talk to her properly, no matter what. If all else fails, Iโll ask for your help.โ
Estella finally smiled, her approval evident. However, her smile faded as they neared the Farwell residence. Aubreeโs presence frightened her.
โDaddy, how much longer will she be staying at our house?โ Estella asked carefully.
Lucian knew who she meant. The woman in his house troubled him. While talking to Roxanne, heโd only considered her relationship with Jack. Now, he realized Roxanne was right. With Estellaโs aversion to Aubree, the girlโs condition would likely worsen if Aubree remained. However, with Sonyaโs interference, he needed a good reason to make Aubree leave.
In the end, he gave Estella a vague answer. โIf you donโt like her, Iโll make her leave as soon as possible.โ
Estella bobbed her head, reluctantly.
