Chapter 796: Fulfill His Promise to Marry Aubree
Roxanne felt conflicted, realizing she had inadvertently betrayed Lucian. She wondered what his reaction would be.
โCome on, Roxanne,โ Larry interjected. โWeโll be working closely together; itโs good to spend time together.โ
Left with no choice, Roxanne smiled and agreed. They left the private room for the third-floor banquet hall.
Stepping from the elevator, Roxanne was astonished. Everyone involved in the project awaited her, as if anticipating a successful contract signing. They surrounded her, glasses raised.
โMr. Damaris says you were instrumental in resolving the medicinal herb supply issue, Dr. Jarvis!โ one exclaimed. โTo you!โ
โAmazing accomplishments for such a young woman!โ The toasts continued.
Being surrounded by seniors, Roxanne couldn't refuse. Jack and Larry helped, but deferred to their elders. Soon, the celebratory drinks took effect.
Meanwhile, Lucian's car arrived at the hotel. Cayden had informed him of the second-floor contract signing. Lucian went directly there, but found Jack and Roxanne absent. Hotel staff informed him the contract had been signed. His face fell. Had Roxanne gone home, or was she still with Jack?
He was about to call when his phone rang. With a frown, he answered.
โCayden should have told you I wanted to see you,โ Elias's cold voice stated. โWhy haven't you arrived?โ
โI just arrived,โ Lucian replied, hanging up and entering the elevator. He intended to see Roxanne and then Elias, but Roxanne was missing and Elias had already arrived. He had no choice but to see his father.
The elevator reached the Starlight Restaurant. Lucian saw his father by a window. Both men wore impassive expressions.
Lucian sat down. Elias calmly said, โAh, youโre here. Order something.โ
โNo, I have things to attend to,โ Lucian replied immediately.
Elias raised an eyebrow.
โI know why you summoned me,โ Lucian continued. โTo persuade me to fulfill my promise to marry Aubree, right?โ
Elias nodded. โWhat do you say?โ
Though Elias cared little for the marriage, his wife had instructed him to speak with Lucian.
