Chapter 795: What Happened Between Them
Lucian found Roxanne's car gone when he left her house. He pulled over, frowning, and called Cayden.
Cayden, about to call Lucian himself, answered quickly. "Hello, Mr. Farwell."
"Find out where Herbscape Group is signing the contract with Damaris Group," Lucian ordered coldly. He couldn't believe he'd let her get away; he wouldn't allow her unsupervised time with Jack.
Cayden replied, "Mr. Elias wants dinner with you at the Twin Petal Hotel. He tried calling, but you weren't answering."
Lucian's expression darkened. He suspected his father wanted to pressure him into marrying Aubree. He'd just sent her to their house, and now his mother was sending his father. That woman certainly knew how to win them over.
"Tell him I have plans," Lucian said, deciding against the meeting. "Got it," Cayden replied, hanging up to investigate the Herbscape/Damaris contract location.
He gasped, quickly calling Lucian back. "Herbscape and Damaris are signing at the Twin Petal Hotel tonight. Still cancel Mr. Elias?"
Lucian frowned. "No, I'll go and see what's happening."
"All right." Lucian drove to the Twin Petal Hotel. Meanwhile, Roxanne's car pulled up outside.
Jack and Larry waited at the entrance. Roxanne composed herself before joining them. "Sorry to keep you waiting."
"It's fine. Herbscape isn't here yet," Jack replied, smiling. They chatted while riding the elevator to the private room.
Ten minutes later, hotel staff ushered in three gentlemen in suits. Greetings were exchanged, and handshakes followed.
The contract signing proceeded smoothly. After a final review, Jack, Roxanne, and Larry signed. Roxanne's thoughts drifted as she watched Jack interact with Herbscape's representatives, recalling Lucian's earlier comments. Herbscape had originally planned to sign with Farwell Group, but canceled at the last minute. She wondered what had transpired.
She was jolted back to reality when Herbscape's representatives departed.
"Anything else? I'll be going. Archie and Benny are waiting," Roxanne mumbled, rising.
Jack stopped her. "We have a celebratory party. Everyone knows you were key to this contract, and they want to toast you. What will I tell them if you leave?"
Roxanne froze, remembering Jack's earlier mention of a contract clause requiring her attendance at Herbscape events. She hadn't taken it seriously, but it seemed Jack had been serious.
