Chapter 813: This Is Nothing
Aubree frowned. "And how did you find out about this?" From her perspective, they must have been together a long time ago. She had been intensely jealous when Frieda photographed them at the theatre. But now, Frieda claimed they were not actually a couple. The thought of Lucian and Roxanne together infuriated Aubree.
Frieda rolled her eyes. "If Roxanne had accepted Lucian's advances, why would he be asking Jonathan for advice on wooing her? Clearly, their issues remain unresolved." She paused, recalling something. "I also heard Jonathan say Roxanne wants to be the technical advisor for Herbscape Group, upsetting Lucian. Herbscape Group was initially going to partner with Farwell Group, but Damaris Group won the contract."
Aubree, convinced by Frieda's detailed account, felt a surge of delight. As long as Roxanne and Lucian weren't together, she still had a chance. Their unresolved issues were a bonus.
Frieda continued, "Since Roxanne is so oblivious, I doubt Lucian will easily win her over. Aubree, you need to get rid of her! It's all because of that woman! Lucian and Jonathan have both been treating me much worse lately!"
Aubree smiled soothingly. "I wish I could. But we need a plan first. Why is Lucian upset with Roxanne? You mentioned it earlier."
"Because Roxanne wants to be Herbscape Group's technical advisor, and she's close to Mr. Damaris. There was a huge public outcry, and she hasn't clarified anything."
A cold glint appeared in Aubree's eyes. "I know what to do. Thank you for reminding me."
Frieda, bewildered, tried to ask more, but Aubree cut her off. "You've always liked my limited-edition purse, haven't you? I'll give it to you when I get back. Consider it a thank-you gift," Aubree said, smiling.
The mention of the purse distracted Frieda. "Really? But I know you love that purse..."
Aubree smiled pretentiously. "Why are we being so formal? If you hear anything else about Lucian and that woman, tell me immediately. When I marry into the Farwell family, a purse like that will be insignificant."
Frieda readily agreed. "You're so kind, Aubree!"
Aubree smiled distantly, her mind already plotting Roxanne's downfall. Frieda's reminder had jogged her memory about the public uproar; even Jessica had called. She suspected Roxanne's ambiguous relationship with Jack was the root of her conflict with Jessica. If Lucian discovered this, would he still pursue Roxanne?
A cold gleam flashed in Aubree's eyes.
