Chapter 812: How Did You Find Out

Frieda was already annoyed. Jonathanโ€™s lecture had only worsened her mood. โ€œI think youโ€™re the one doing stupid things!โ€ she retorted, glaring at him before storming out of the office. So, her own brother had turned against her. She'd have to speak with Aubree.

Even she could see Mrs. Farwell wanted Aubree as her daughter-in-law. She remembered Mrs. Farwellโ€™s efforts to remove Roxanne last time. Lucian was now courting Roxanne, despite his engagement. The outcome of the Aubree-Roxanne rivalry seemed clear: Aubree would prevail.

Jonathan, however, was supporting Roxanne. He'd even called Frieda's support for Aubree โ€œstupid.โ€ Frieda thought heโ€™d completely lost his mind.

Jonathan watched his sister leave, a throbbing headache forming. After leaving Queen Group, Frieda immediately called Aubree.

Aubree was alone at Sonya's apartment; Sonya was out on errands. Aubree was listlessly flipping through television channels when Friedaโ€™s call came in. โ€œFrieda? What is it?โ€ she asked, sitting up.

โ€œAubree!โ€ Friedaโ€™s voice was laced with distress.

A flicker of impatience crossed Aubreeโ€™s face, but she maintained a concerned tone. โ€œWhat happened? Did someone bully you?โ€

This only amplified Frieda's frustration. โ€œItโ€™s my brother!โ€ she huffed.

Aubree raised an eyebrow. โ€œWhat did he do?โ€

Frieda bit her lip. โ€œCan we meet? Itโ€™s important I tell you in person. Happy Baker Cafรฉ?โ€

Aubree agreed, though with a slight frown. Their conversations usually revolved around the Farwell family; this must be related. Grabbing her bag, Aubree hurried to the cafรฉ.

Frieda was already there, seated by the window, looking glum as she sipped her coffee. Seeing Frieda's distress, Aubreeโ€™s heart sank. She sat down, asking, โ€œWhat is it? You donโ€™t look well.โ€

Frieda lowered her cup. โ€œLucian has been pursuing Roxanne!โ€

Aubree was stunned, but maintained her composure. โ€œHow did you find out?โ€ She'd noticed Lucian treating Roxanne differently, but this was a new level of pursuit.

Frieda met Aubreeโ€™s gaze. โ€œI overheard my brother talking to Lucian. Lucian didn't deny it; he even asked for advice on how to improve.โ€

A smile crept onto Aubreeโ€™s face. Lucian, humbled and seeking advice about a woman? This was unprecedented. He hadnโ€™t acted this way about her six years ago.

Frieda continued, โ€œAnd Roxanne seems to be rejecting him! I donโ€™t understand whatโ€™s so appealing about her, considering his persistence.โ€
