Chapter 840: Know What She Wants To Say
Estella maintained a strict daily routine. At Roxanne's house, she'd grown drowsy around nine o'clock, only slightly more alert on the drive home. Tonight, she'd been on the couch for a long time. Although she longed to wait for Lucian's return, sleepiness overwhelmed her, and her eyes drifted closed.
Catalina knew Estella's schedule intimately. Seeing Estella's head droop, she quickly moved to her side, ready to catch her. As anticipated, Estella fell asleep within minutes, her body tilting. Catalina, prepared, caught her and carefully carried her upstairs. Leaving Estella's room and checking the time, she saw it was late.
Estella had been so stubborn earlier. It seemed she truly had something important to discuss with Mr. Farwell. Catalina pulled out her phone, about to call Lucian, when she heard a noise downstairs. Looking down, she saw Lucian enter, his long strides and cold aura suggesting a demanding workday.
“Mr. Farwell,” she called hesitantly, hurrying down the stairs. Taking his coat, she added, “Ms. Estella waited for you all night and only just fell asleep.”
Lucian's frown deepened. Cayden, after sending Estella home, reported she'd forgiven Roxanne and was reluctant to leave. However, he couldn't forgive Roxanne. He could guess what Estella wanted to say—likely taking Roxanne's side—but he wasn't ready to hear it, not with Roxanne's increasingly close relationship with Jack causing so much misunderstanding. He wanted to teach Roxanne a lesson, for the children's sake and his own.
Lucian merely nodded expressionlessly and ascended the stairs. Seeing his lack of comprehension, Catalina added, “Ms. Estella seemed to have something important to tell you. Should you check on her?”
“No. I know what she wants to say,” Lucian replied indifferently, entering his bedroom.
Catalina, knowing she could say no more, offered only a pitying glance toward Estella's room. It's the first time I've seen Ms. Estella like that. I wonder what she wanted to tell Mr. Farwell…
After showering, Lucian, as was his habit, began browsing the day's news. He soon encountered online discussions about Herbscape Group, causing him to frown. Only those in the pharmaceutical industry would know of Herbscape's illegal drug sales and the bacterial leak at their biological laboratory.
He initially suspected former employees, but then recalled his conversation with Jonathan. This seemed more like something Jonathan would do.
