Chapter 882: Told Her To Leave

Roxanne arrived at the Farwell residence, suppressing her unease before pressing the doorbell. Catalina answered the intercom, a look of helplessness on her face upon seeing Roxanne.

"Catalina, is Essie back yet?" Roxanne asked cautiously.

Catalina sighed, remembering Lucian's instructions. "Not yet."

Roxanne's gaze darkened. Forcing a smile, she asked, "Then can I go in and wait for her?"

Catalina hesitated but shook her head. "It's better that you leave." Lucian, displeased upon returning home with Estella, had instructed her to deny Roxanne entry. Though sympathetic, Catalina dared not disobey, especially given Lucian's anger.

Roxanne's eyes shimmered with dawning understanding. She looked towards Estella's second-floor room. Earlier, Catalina had said Lucian had taken Estella out and suggested Roxanne call him. Now, she was being asked to leave. Roxanne realized Lucian didn't want to see her; he must have brought Estella home.

Apprehension filled her. Pleadingly, she asked, "I won't go in, but can you at least tell me how Essie is?"

Catalina sighed and shook her head again. She explained, "Mr. Farwell returned with a sullen expression and instructed me not to disclose any information about Ms. Estella. I suppose he's angry with her."

Utterly crestfallen, Roxanne stared at the second floor, seeing no movement in Estella's room. She turned and left.

Catalina watched her go, heartbroken. Only after Roxanne's car disappeared did she sigh and ascend to the second floor. Estella's bedroom door was open; Lucian sat on the bed watching his daughter sleep, his eyes dark.

"Mr. Farwell," Catalina called.

Lucian turned. Their eyes met, and Catalina instinctively glanced at Estella. He frowned and approached the door. "What is it?"

"Ms. Jarvis was here."

Lucian's impassivity spoke volumes. Catalina nodded. "I've already told her to leave."

Lucian nodded, returning to Estella's bed. Looking out the window, which faced the manor's entrance, he saw no one and sneered.
