Chapter 912: Hidden

Only after hearing Colby’s response did Roxanne relax slightly. “I see. I’ll leave it to you, then. Feel free to come to me if you need anything,” she said. Colby agreed.

Roxanne added, with a hint of emotion, “If you can find those medicinal herbs again, you’ll solve a huge problem for me.” Colby felt his spirits lift at her tone. Ever since Roxanne had gone to the research institute, she had handled all kinds of problems independently, only enlisting his help—as head of the institute—with trivial matters. He knew, despite her praise, she still considered him just an ordinary researcher. After all, he was insignificant compared to the men in her life. He was surprised how easily he’d manipulated Roxanne into regarding him more highly. No one would have guessed he'd gone to such lengths simply to create distance between her and other men. It would be even better if Roxanne shifted her suspicions toward Jack and Lucian.

He was elated imagining Roxanne drifting away from them and toward him. “Don’t worry. Since an institute employee is to blame, I have an obligation to help.” Putting his satisfaction aside, Colby feigned mercy. “Regardless, Jason was a senior employee, and he was acting for his son. I hope you can show him some leniency, Dr. Jarvis.”

Roxanne replied, slightly helpless, “I’m not planning on being harsh.” Since the accident involved no casualties, her memorandum of understanding sufficed to mitigate Jason’s charges. She would also assist with his son’s treatment.

Colby smiled gratefully. “That’s good to know.” They spoke for a while longer before he left.

Suddenly, Roxanne’s phone illuminated. It was a text from Benny. He’d investigated the email address but found nothing; the sender remained hidden, using an account without a domain. Since the perpetrator wouldn't reuse it, tracing them was impossible. Even Benny was stymied.

Roxanne’s heart sank. Noticing her change in mood, Colby asked, concerned, “What’s wrong?”

Roxanne didn’t hide the information. “I’ve received the results of the email address investigation.”

Colby’s eyes narrowed. “What did you find? Who told Jason?”

Roxanne shook her head dejectedly. “Nothing.”

Colby discreetly breathed a sigh of relief before adopting an angry expression. “The mastermind is well-hidden, and definitely targeting Herbscape Group! Who could do this?”

Roxanne was troubled. Few people could inflict such damage and evade Benny’s investigation. “Coincidentally, I know someone capable and with motive. Lucian.”
