Chapter 928: Leaving in a Hurry

The next day, Estella waited outside Lucianโ€™s room, hoping to persuade him to go camping with them. When Lucian opened the door, he saw her and instantly understood her purpose.

Instead of letting her speak, he said, โ€œCome, letโ€™s have breakfast. Ms. Jarvis should arrive soon.โ€ Estella shook her head, but before she could respond, he interrupted again. โ€œI need to go to the office. Obey Ms. Jarvis, okay? Call if you need anything.โ€ He then bypassed her and went downstairs.

Catalina was preparing breakfast in the dining area. Seeing him heading for the door, she asked, โ€œBreakfast is ready, Mr. Farwell. Will you eat before leaving?โ€

Lucian continued walking. โ€œI must leave now. Remember to open the door for Ms. Jarvis; sheโ€™ll be picking up Essie.โ€

Catalina frowned. He was already putting on his shoes and seemed in a rush. She wondered if he was avoiding someone or something; otherwise, why the haste?

While she pondered this, Estella came downstairs. Catalina promptly seated the girl at the dining table and joined her for breakfast. They had only taken a few bites when the video intercom rang.

Remembering Lucianโ€™s instructions, Catalina opened the door to reveal Roxanne and the two boys.

โ€œGood morning, Ms. Jarvis,โ€ Catalina greeted politely.

Roxanne nodded, glancing around the living hall as if searching for someone. Catalina realized Lucian had left early. โ€œMr. Farwell left this morning,โ€ she explained. โ€œHe said youโ€™d be collecting Estella.โ€

Roxanne visibly relaxed. She had felt anxious approaching the house, unsure how to face Lucian and whether he would join the trip. She hadn't asked him yesterday, and the thought of him coming along had filled her with dread. She was relieved he wasn't.

Hearing Roxanneโ€™s voice, Estella rushed to the door. โ€œGood morning, Ms. Jarvis!โ€

Roxanne knelt and stroked her head. โ€œDo you have everything, Essie?โ€

The girl initially nodded, then shook her head. Confused, Roxanne asked for clarification.

โ€œDaddy packed them,โ€ Estella explained sweetly.

Lucian had prepared the camping gear, but Estella hadnโ€™t paid close attention to it. Roxanne wasnโ€™t concerned; she had everything packed herself.

โ€œHave you had breakfast, Ms. Jarvis? Join us if you havenโ€™t,โ€ Catalina offered.

Roxanne smiled. โ€œNo, thank you. I brought snacks for the journey.โ€ She then checked with Estella about breakfast.

Estella nodded eagerly. โ€œIโ€™ll eat in the car!โ€ As a first-time camper, she was excited.

Catalina, after silently retrieving the camping gear Lucian had prepared from upstairs, bid them farewell. As Roxanne loaded the gear into the car trunk, she noticed how heavy it was. She wondered if it was overloaded.
