Chapter 958: Entrust Her To You
Roxanne, Lucian, Archie, Benny, and Estella packed the tent and camping equipment before driving back in Lucianโs car. They left Roxanne's car at the campsite, arranging for it to be towed.
Upon arriving at Roxanne's house, Roxanne and the children exited the car. Lucian helped them retrieve their belongings from the trunk. After gathering everything, Roxanne prepared to take Archie and Benny inside, bidding Lucian and Estella farewell.
Estella, a petite figure beside Lucian, quietly tugged on Roxanne's shirt. Having spent the day and night with Roxanne and the children, she was reluctant to leave. Her sadness touched Roxanne, who knelt and stroked Estella's head.
"Are you hungry, Essie? Come in and have some food," Roxanne offered. Estella's eyes lit up, and she eagerly leaned closer.
Roxanne then turned to Lucian. "Would you like to join us for something to eat, Mr. Farwell?" Despite her initial hesitation, she felt she owed him for his help. She anticipated his ready acceptance, but Lucian's brow furrowed, his response delayed. His silence surprised her.
"Let's have breakfast before leaving, Daddy!" Estella piped up. Archie and Benny echoed her plea, urging Lucian to join them.
Lucian finally declined. "No, thank you. I have pressing matters to attend to. I need to finish a meeting and investigate the incident involving the children." The children's faces fell.
Roxanne comforted Archie and Benny. Her gaze lingered on Estella, her concern evident. She considered driving Estella home later, but Lucian spoke again.
"Would you mind if Estella stayed at your place for two days, Ms. Jarvis?"
Roxanne and the children were stunned. Since Lucian had taken Estella away, she hadn't stayed over, due to Roxanne's concerns and Lucian's restrictions. Despite Estella's previous tearful pleas, Lucian had always refused. This unexpected offer surprised everyone, including Estella, who hesitantly tugged at her father's shirt.
"Can I really stay at Ms. Jarvis' house, Daddy?"
Lucian nodded impassively. He then explained to Roxanne, "I'm unsure if she's fully recovered. I'd feel more at ease entrusting her to you."
Roxanne hesitated, fearing the person who targeted her might endanger Estella again. Lucian interrupted, frowning. "I'll send men to watch over you. They'll contact me immediately if anything unusual occurs." He assured her not to worry.
