Gladys was also tempted by David's words. "James," David said, "do you know how inferior Pacific is to Eternality? Granduncle said it's on the brink of collapse, even though it's a large manufacturing factory. Not only is it unable to receive new orders, but it's also ten million dollars in debt. Taking it over won't be easy. Plus, Pacific is Granduncle's life's work; he might not sell it even for a huge sum."
Benjamin nodded. "That's right. Besides, do you even have the money?"
"Money won't be a problem. I'll find a way," James replied flatly. Gladys was already tempted.
They believed they could earn money if they raised enough funds to take over Pacific Group. It had the human resources and equipment to continue operating, and Thea's connections with Celestial Group and Longevity Pharmaceuticals would secure orders. This was far better than enduring the Callahans' unfair treatment.
"Thea, I can only support you in spirit," Benjamin said. "I've resented Lex for a long time. If you have the chance to be independent, take it. However, I can only offer emotional support; I don't have the money to help financially."
"What do you think, Dad?" Thea asked Benjamin.
"I agree with your mother," Benjamin replied, glancing at Gladys. The family discussed it and agreed that leaving the Callahans and taking this risk was better than enduring their treatment.
Thea, motivated by her family's support, said impatiently, "Then let's talk to Granduncle first!" She grabbed James's hand. "Alright," James nodded.
Trevor went to Thea's house but learned she was no longer Eternality's chairman. After considering his options, he decided to swallow his pride and see Lex. He went to the Callahans' villa, but was humiliated and ejected.
Meanwhile, Thea left her house after her family meeting. Just as she was about to go to Trevor's house, she saw him walking away from the Callahans' villa, head bowed. She grabbed James's hand and hurried toward him.
"Granduncle."
Trevor looked up, tear-stained and lifeless.
"Thea," he greeted her.
"Did you… go beg Grandpa?" Thea asked.
Trevor sighed deeply. "The heavens want Pacific to end," he said, shaking his head and turning to leave.
"Granduncle! I want to take over Pacific Group. Is that possible?" Thea called out.
"Huh? You want to take over Pacific Group?" Trevor turned, looking at Thea incredulously.
"Yes," Thea nodded. "Name your price. I'll find a way to get the money if it's reasonable."
"Are you scheming with Lex? Trying to buy my company cheaply during a crisis? That's impossible! Even if I go bankrupt, I'll never give up my life's work!" Trevor shouted.
"Granduncle, please calm down and listen," James said. "We want to take over Pacific Group, but not cheaply. You know about my connections with Celestial Group and Longevity Pharmaceuticals. I'm confident Pacific Group will thrive under my leadership. I'll offer one hundred million dollars for full equity, and you can remain the manufacturing director."
"Seriously?" Trevor looked at Thea incredulously. Pacific Group was in crisis, deeply in debt, and worth perhaps only ten to thirty million dollars at most. Thea's offer of one hundred million was astonishing.
Thea nodded. "And you'll receive ten percent of the shares, ensuring dividends as the company grows."
"Alright, alright! I accept!"
