Listen to this chapter:

You're right. The Wilkins are so lucky; they have such a dutiful daughter who married a Wilson. Chad and the Gourmand's owner must enjoy a special friendship.

Felicia and her family were dumbfounded by the crowd's reaction. Chad was also confused. What was going on? He had only reserved the Silver Room and had never seen the Gourmand's owner before. Why was he there in person? However, thinking he had commanded the owner's attention, Chad grew gleeful. He lifted his chin, put an arm around Emily, and enjoyed the admiring glances from the crowd.

Felicia became even more arrogant, turning to glare at Gladys and letting out a haughty "Humph!"

Gladys was enraged, blaming James—the "useless worm"—for everything. "You piece of trash! Look at them! Look at the company they keep! Even the Gourmand's owner is here to greet them in person!" she yelled at James, who frowned slightly.

Henry was puzzled. "What's going on?" he murmured, looking at the still-bent Bryan. Understanding dawned. Bryan must have mistaken Emily for Thea. Loudly, he announced, "Thea, we're not eating here anymore. Let's go." He grabbed Thea and left.

Still by the entrance, Bryan heard the name and straightened up, seeing James and Thea turning away. He shuddered and slapped himself. In his haste, he'd made a mistake. He hurried to catch up with them, stopping before Thea. Respectfully, he asked, "Are are you Miss Thea Callahan?"

"Huh?" Thea was stunned. Dumbly, she nodded. "I am."

"Miss Callahan, the Diamond Room is ready. Please come with me."

Events unfolded so quickly that everyone was shocked. Gladys, Benjamin, David, and Alyssa stared, mouths agape. They'd never seen the Gourmand's owner before, but knew he wasn't from Cansington; he was a big shot from the capital.

"M-Mister Grayson? Did you just say the Diamond Room is ready? For Thea?" Gladys asked uncertainly.

"Madam, you must be Thea's mother! This way, please! Waiter! What are you doing? Welcome our guests!"

At Bryan's shouts, several waiters appeared, forming two neat rows and bowing. "Welcome," they said in unison.

"Guards, throw these people out!" Bryan addressed Felicia and her family, who stood rooted to the spot. They'd caused his mistake. He'd never seen the Black Dragon (presumably the owner) before, but wouldn't disobey him. The room was for Thea; offending her would ruin him.

Security guards appeared and escorted Felicia's family away. The crowd watched.

Gladys finally smiled. Regardless of the situation, she was happy to see Felicia suffer. She doubled over with laughter, pointing at Felicia. "Haha, what a joke! The Diamond Room? You're not worthy!!!"
