Listen to this chapter:

Thea placed her résumé on the table. Just then, the man raised his head. Seeing Thea, he looked surprised.

"Hold on," he said.

"Huh?" Thea replied.

She was about to leave after submitting her résumé, but she stopped and looked at the Ella Corporation recruiting manager. "Is there anything else?" she asked.

Hank Wilson stared at Thea, appraising her. His expression turned greedy. He'd never seen a more beautiful woman. He pointed to a chair. "Take a seat. Let's talk."

"Okay," Thea said, sitting down.

"Which position are you applying for?"

"I'm applying for the position of fashion designer."

"Do you have any related work experience?"

"No."

Hank frowned. "Sweetheart, this won't do. Do you know who we are and what our designers represent?" He leafed through her résumé.

"You graduated from a second-rate local fashion design academy and you don't have any experience yet," he said, shaking his head slightly. "Everyone applying for this job is an international graduate from a top university with years of experience at well-known companies. Where's your advantage?"

Thea said, "I may not have work experience, but I understand fashion design as well as they do. Please give me a chance; grant me an in-person interview. I'll bring my sketches."

Hank rubbed his chin, studying Thea. His gaze landed on her neck. Slowly, his eyes traveled down. Noticing her form, he swallowed.

Then, he pretended to read her résumé again. Learning that she was the former executive chairman of Eternality Group, he recognized her immediately. She was Thea Callahan! Everyone was talking about the Callahans that day. That morning, they'd made fools of themselves. Lex had faked an invitation to the Blithe King's succession ceremony and been thrown out. James, the Callahans' son-in-law, had borrowed a special car for the occasion, which seemed impressive until it was revealed that the car belonged to an important person who was out of town. James's superior had pulled strings to get the car, and everyone said that once the owner returned, everyone involved—the driver, James's superior, and James himself—would be in trouble. James had certainly taken a risk.

"Thea Callahan, right? To be frank, you're suitable for the job. How about this? Let's meet tonight. I'll share some insider tips about the interview. Actually, we don't have to wait. Let's go somewhere to discuss this in detail."

"Sure," Thea said.

Thea was overjoyed. "Thank you so much," she said quickly.

"Don't mention it. I'm indebted to the Callahans. Since you're family, I'll help you. Let's talk in private. I'll tell you everything you need to know about the interview and ensure you get the job." Hank began to get up.

Most importantly, he had to get Thea to a hotel. Once there, Thea would be his to do as he pleased. Thea believed every word Hank said, honestly thinking the Callahans had helped him and he was repaying the favor.

Meanwhile, James squatted outside Ella Corporation's recruitment booth, smoking. Just then, he felt a wave of murderous intent. Instantly alert, he scanned the crowd, his gaze settling on one person.

"It's her," James muttered. "Why is she in Cansington?"

Since Thea wasn't finished, he only hesitated a second before following her.

I removed the extraneous website advertisement. I corrected spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors. I also improved sentence structure for clarity and flow. I replaced informal language with more appropriate professional wording where applicable.
