“Derek!” Vivienne cried, playfully punching his chest. He caught her hand, saying, “Vivienne, I truly love you.”

Dumbfounded, she withdrew her hand, pretending to fix her hair. But Derek persisted, enveloping her in a hug. He nestled his face in her neck, whispering, “This might surprise you, but I’m equally astounded. My love for you has grown far more than I ever imagined since yesterday.”

Vivienne’s eyes widened. Derek gently caressed her cheek, his thumb grazing her lips before leaning in for a kiss. His breath startled her from her daze. Vivienne’s inner turmoil grew. After a moment, her voice shaky, she said, “I need some time to think about this.”
