Chapter 76: I Don't Want to Wait Anymore
“Derek!” Vivienne cried, playfully punching his chest. He caught her hand, saying, “Vivienne, I truly love you.”
Dumbfounded, she withdrew her hand, pretending to fix her hair. But Derek persisted, enveloping her in a hug. He nestled his face in her neck, whispering, “This might surprise you, but I’m equally astounded. My love for you has grown far more than I ever imagined since yesterday.”
Vivienne’s eyes widened. Derek gently caressed her cheek, his thumb grazing her lips before leaning in for a kiss. His breath startled her from her daze. She met his intense gaze, then, overwhelmed, looked away, trying to push him back. He tightened his hold, admiring the blush on her cheeks. “Vivienne,” he said, his heart racing, “I can’t wait any longer.”
Panic surged through her. “Derek…” she began, but he cradled her head and kissed her passionately. The kiss swept her away, feeling fated. As his embrace tightened, clarity returned, and she broke away. His dark eyes burned with an intensity that threatened to consume her.
He gently held her chin, compelling her gaze. Whispering, their foreheads touching, he said, “Vivienne, I don’t regret what just happened.”
Her lips pressed together. “You said you wouldn’t force me.”
“I hoped to remain a gentleman,” Derek admitted, his gaze unwavering. “But losing control only solidified my belief that we are meant to be together.” He was astounded by his own near-loss of control.
Vivienne’s inner turmoil grew. After a moment, her voice shaky, she said, “I need some time to think about this.”
Seizing the opportunity as the car stopped, she opened the door and hurried into the street. Derek watched her go with a knowing smile, reflecting on his journey from attraction to a profound fascination. What began as allure had evolved into a determined pursuit of her heart.
