Chapter 259
Sheela, a seasoned actress, was unfazed by the cameras. The director chuckled, "Ladies, carry on," then subtly distanced himself, continuing to film. The scene—a beauty queen and a strikingly beautiful screenwriter—was breathtaking.
Suddenly, a harsh voice cut through the air. "Sheela! Rehearse your scene with Sam." Their manager. Sam Salter, the show's male lead, was Sheela's company's contribution – a package deal. Paisley, the director, knew this. She'd accepted Sheela, knowing it meant Sam, a less-than-ideal choice, was included. She'd secured her only condition: Brittany was out.
"Already rehearsed?" Paisley challenged the manager, cutting him short. He ignored her, barking at Sheela, "Hurry! Don't keep Sam waiting."
Sam sneered from behind the manager. Sheela, offering Paisley an apologetic smile, grabbed her script. "Sorry, Ms. Vaire," she murmured. Paisley, understanding, nodded, handing Sheela her card.
Sam, catching Paisley’s eye, scoffed, "Rehearse what? A crappy script?"
The manager patted Sam’s shoulder. "Perform well, and you'll blow up."
Sam, acting like royalty, ordered his assistant, "Snacks, my tab. Treat the crew."
Laity, watching Sheela go, asked, "She's a top star! How can her agent treat her like that?"
"Mind your own business," Paisley snapped, returning to her script.
"Fine," Lucy replied, then spun around to see a crew member staring intensely.
"What are you looking at?" Lucy demanded.
Paisley, turning, saw the man in a crew uniform. "Need something?"
He stammered, waving his hands, "No, nothing! Just passing by," then hurried away.
Lucy grinned, "He was staring because you're gorgeous!"
Paisley ignored her, resuming her reading. Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside.
Gary, looking up from his monitor, grumbled, "What's going on?"
A staff member returned quickly. "Food trucks. Treating the whole crew to dinner."
