Chapter 260

“Huh?” Gary glanced at his watch. Mealtime was still a while off. “Who’s footing the bill for this feast?” Feeding hundreds wasn’t cheap; even he’d avoid such extravagance.

The agent, remembering Sam’s mention of snacks, stepped forward. “It’s Sam. He wanted to thank the crew.”

Gary shot Sam a look. Working with him was a trial, but Sheela made it worthwhile. Sam’s acting was passable, and a successful project was paramount. He swallowed his frustration. “Everyone, break time! Thanks, Sam!”

A chorus of thanks erupted. Sam preened. The studio doors swung open, revealing not mere food trucks, but a lavish buffet—chefs, waiters, glistening displays. Steaks sizzled, sashimi glistened, even the ice cream was high-end.

Stunned silence followed, broken only by Sam’s gasp. The agent turned to him, her voice laced with uncertainty. “Snacks? This cost a fortune!”

Sam frantically called his assistant, to no avail. “Damn it! I asked for desserts, not a restaurant takeover!” His wallet screamed in protest, but the damage was done.

The agent quickly interjected, “Don’t worry, I’ll get reimbursement. We’ll shoot more footage, generate buzz—a traffic boost for you.”

Relieved, Sam rallied the crew. “Come on, Gary, everyone, dig in!” He turned to Paisley. “Nion, join us.”

“Thanks, but I’m not hungry,” Paisley politely declined. She disliked the interruption.

Sam, mistaking her politeness for shyness, approached. “Come on, Nion, eat up! You work hard—refuel your brain!”

The agent chimed in, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. “Opportunities like this are rare. Take pictures, post on social media. Isn’t that what girls like you do?” Paisley's earlier slight clearly rankled.
