Chapter 103
When Freya decided to catch a cab to Audreyโs villa, the driver knew heโd be toast if Audrey saw it. With that thought, the driver immediately jumped into his car, eager to catch up to Freya.
Seeing the driver hot on her heels, Erya couldnโt help but let out a chilly laugh. The boss was too soft, allowing the employees to walk all over her. After all, Freya was Ms. Dawson, the guest, and the driver was merely an employee, acting so rudely on behalf of the boss. She had swallowed her pride before. But this time, she wouldnโt stand for it anymore.
Soon, the taxi pulled up at the grand entrance of Audreyโs villa. Audrey had moved out. This villa was in an upscale neighborhood, even though it was not the Sutton familyโs main house.
Then Audrey glanced through the window and saw Freya stepping out of the cab, her face darkened, and she exclaimed, โWhatโs this? Didnโt I send Zack to pick you up? Where is he?โ
โMrs. Sutton, Iโฆ I donโt know what happened.โ The nearby servant was clueless. Zack had gone to pick her up!
โThis is preposterous! Now the whole neighborhood will laugh at me!โ Slightly infuriated, Audrey descended the stairs. Seeing Freya had already entered from the outside, Audrey approached and said, โFreya, what happened? Didnโt Zack come to pick you up?โ
Freya answered, โAudrey, Zack did come, butโฆ he seemed to prefer Ms. Harwoodโs company, so I left the car.โ
Right after Freya finished speaking, the driver stumbled through the door. Audreyโs expression turned icy as she said, โI sent you to pick up Freya, and what did you do?โ
โMrs. Suttonโฆโ the driverโs face paled as he stammered, โIโฆ I made some idle chat, but who knew Ms. Dawson would take offense! And then to do such an undignified thing, oh, itโs all my fault! I shouldnโt have spoken out of turn. I only suggested Ms. Dawson should invest more of her affection in Mr. Sutton, butโฆ who could have thought Ms. Dawson would overreact to it? Now, if word gets out, wouldnโt it tarnish your reputation, Mrs. Sutton?โ
The driver had worked for Audrey for many years and knew her well. Audrey cared most about her reputation and image. Having a guest show up in a taxi was unprecedented โ it had never happened before.
Upon hearing the driverโs words, Audreyโs face turned darker. Freya interjected, โZack, youโre not telling the whole story. Didnโt you also say I shouldnโt think pleasing Audrey would make everything alright and that I was ungrateful and not as accommodating as Ms. Harwood?โ
Zack hesitated, โThisโฆโ
โYou know full well Ms. Harwood is scheming to become Mrs. Sutton, yet you praised her saying she never blames you old staff. You approve of Ms. Harwood and wish for her to become the lady of the Sutton family, donโt you?โ
Freyaโs words made the driver break out in a cold sweat. Audreyโs most detested person was Eloise. It was one thing for others, but for a long-standing employee like him to speak favorably of Eloise was crossing a line with Audrey!
As expected, Audrey coldly said, โSo, youโre all about praising Ms. Harwood, thinking that sucking up to her will secure your future?โ
Zack freaked out. โMrs. Sutton! I didnโt mean it like that! Iโฆโ
โI think itโs time for you to consider early retirement, given your age.โ
