“Tonight’s charity gala, you’re coming with me.”

Hearing Kieran wanted to take her to a charity gala, Freya frowned. “Why not take Eloise?”

“You wish I’d taken Eloise?” A hint of displeasure laced Kieran’s tone.

Freya said, “It’s not like that. I thought Ms. Harwood was a better match for you, Mr. Sutton.”

Kieran was getting impatient. “Freya, are you trying to push me away?”

“Why are you getting mad, Mr. Sutton? Our engagement is just a business arrangement, and it’s temporary. It’s completely normal for us to live our own lives. Mr. Sutton, your fondness for Eloise is no secret in our circles. So, why bother taking me?” With every word, Freya was testing Kieran’s patience.

Aeran coldly responded, “Living our own lives… It seems you and Ronan are quite the pair.”

“That’s nothing compared to Mr. Sutton, who even had a child with Ms. Harwood.” Freya’s offhand remark chilled Kieran’s demeanor.

The atmosphere around them tensed up dramatically. Freya knew that the subject of a child had always been taboo for Kieran. Though it was just a rumor back then, who’s to say it wasn’t true? Judging by Kieran’s reaction, the rumor seemed closer to the truth.

“Mr. Sutton, they’ve arrived.” Jarrett entered the room, followed by a team of makeup artists and stylists carrying their kits.

“Take Ms. Dawson upstairs to change.”

“Yes, Mr. Sutton.” Jarrett escorted Freya upstairs with the makeup artists and stylists in tow.

An hour later, Kieran glanced impatiently at his watch. “Should we check if she’s ready?”

“Yes, Mr. Sutton.” Just as Jarrett was about to head upstairs, Freya came down the stairs, her entourage in tow.

She was dressed in an azure mermaid gown, highlighting her figure. Her long, luscious hair was straightened, cascading down to her waist, enhancing her naturally stunning visage with minimal makeup.

Even Kieran was momentarily stunned by her beauty. He had never realized how beautiful Freya could be when she made an effort.

“Mr. Sutton, that dress is a perfect fit for Ms. Dawson. She’s easily the most beautiful woman in Echo City tonight.”

Snapped out of his thoughts by the compliments, Kieran returned to the present moment. Freya had always been beautiful, but previously, she had been imitating Eloise and clinging to him, and he had overlooked Freya’s appearance.

Kieran averted his gaze from Freya, saying coldly, “Let’s go.”

With that, he headed for the door, Freya following behind. She vividly remembered Eloise had accompanied Kieran to this charity gala in the past life.
