Chapter 129
Silas forced a smile. As much as he was a fan of beautiful women, the nightlife scene was not his type. Eventually, he had to concoct an excuse to make his exit.
Half an hour later, Freya focused on her thesis work at Kieranโs place. She donned black-rimmed glasses and began scouring the internet for resources. Having been out of school for several months, she had much to catch up on. Even though she had three years of real-life experience to build on, she knew it wasnโt smart to just ignore her studies. She decided not to repeat her past mistakes, dropping out for a man, thinking she had found her happily ever after.
How foolish that had been.
As Freya typed away on her computer, the door suddenly swung open. The smell of alcohol hit her like a wave, prompting her to shut her laptop immediately.
Kieran noticed the action and frowned, asking, โWhat are you doing?โ
โWhat Iโm doing has nothing to do with you, Mr. Sutton,โ Freya responded coldly. โThis is my room. Isnโt it inappropriate to barge in like this, Mr. Sutton?โ
โThis is my house. I can go wherever I please.โ Suddenly, Kieran moved toward Freya.
Catching the scent of alcohol on him, Freya frowned deeply. โKieran! What are you doing?โ
He didnโt miss the disgust in Freyaโs eyes, a look she had given him ever since their engagement party. That look made Kieran uncomfortable. Stepping forward, he grabbed Freyaโs arm. โYouโre my fiancรฉe. I can do whatever I want with you! What do you think I want to do?โ
โYouโre drunk!โ Freya tried to shake him off, but he picked her up in response. Her expression darkened. โKieran! Let me go!โ
โNo!โ
โWill you let me go or not?!โ
โI said no!โ Kieran said, stubbornly, carrying Freya toward the bed, but she didnโt hesitate to bite right into his shoulder.
Caught off guard by the pain, Kieran involuntarily released his grip. He inhaled sharply, anger flaring. โFreya! What are you, a dog now? Biting me?โ
โConsidering you came here drunk and started this nonsense, Iโve been quite polite!โ Freya retorted. โIf youโre trying to punish me over Eloiseโs affair or expect me to go easy on Eloiseโs two friends, Mr. Sutton, you can save the effort. Iโm determined to see those two behind bars this time.โ
At that, Kieranโs expression darkened further.
