Chapter 174

โ€œYeah,โ€ Freya nodded, then asked, โ€œWhat else could it be?โ€

Kieran had half-expected Freya to explain why she got into Prestonโ€™s car the previous night. But, to his surprise, Freya didnโ€™t take it to heart at all, showing no intention of explaining herself to her fiancรฉ. The thought constricted Kieranโ€™s chest, making it hard for him to breathe. However, he quickly reminded himself that since he had resolved to hold back his feelings for Freya, he shouldnโ€™t let her actions sway his emotions.

With an indifferent tone, he said, โ€œYou can leave now.โ€

Facing Kieranโ€™s inscrutable attitude, Freya didnโ€™t ask further and turned to leave.

Standing by the door, Jarrett silently broke into a sweat. He thought, โ€˜Could Ms. Dawson not see that Mr. Sutton was upset? Any normal person would sense something was off, right?โ€™

By then, Freya was driving toward the Sutton Mansion. Seeing Freyaโ€™s return, the housekeeper warmly opened the door for her and said, โ€œMs. Dawson, Mr. Sutton instructed me to take you to the basement.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Freya complied.

Soon, the housekeeper led Freya to the basement. As the basement door swung open, Leland tried to dash out like a madman, only to be shoved back in by Freya. Leland had little strength to resist after being locked up for a day. Pushed by Freya, he tumbled awkwardly onto the floor.

โ€œLet me out! Please, let me out!โ€ By then, Leland was bordering on hysteria.

Freya caught a whiff of the unpleasant odor in the basement, and, seeing Lelandโ€™s disheveled state, she knew what kind of day he had endured. Being locked in such a dark, cramped space for hours was unbearable for anyone, let alone Leland, a wealthy heir unaccustomed to hardship, who felt like he was near death after a day.

โ€œGetting out is not impossible,โ€ Looking down at Leland sprawled on the ground, Freya said, โ€œJust promise me you wonโ€™t repeat your mistakes. After your birthday party, youโ€™ll turn yourself in to the police and stop eyeing the family fortune. Then, Iโ€™ll agree to let you go.โ€

โ€œI promise! I promise everything! Just let me out!โ€ At this moment, Leland was desperate to leave, willing to agree to any of Freyaโ€™s demands to escape this place.

โ€œWords alone arenโ€™t enough. Sign here first.โ€ Finishing her sentence, Freya threw a contract down before Leland.

Leland couldnโ€™t care less about the content. He scrambled up and hastily signed his name.

Once Freya confirmed the signature was in order, she turned to the housekeeper and said, โ€œIโ€™ll take him with me. Please clean up here.โ€ The housekeeper nodded. โ€œOf course, Ms. Dawson.โ€
