Chapter 190

Anyone with half a brain could see it. Freya used to be head over heels for Kieran, and now? She couldnโ€™t stand the sight of him. Sending flowers at this point? Sheโ€™d toss them straight into the trash.

Kieran rushed it. โ€œWhy all the fuss? Just do as told. Do you not want to be my executive assistant anymore?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m on it!โ€ Jarrett quickly left the office.

Thirty minutes later, Jarrett knocked on the Dawson familyโ€™s front door. When Freya opened the door, she saw a massive bouquet of roses. Her eyelids twitched as she asked, โ€œJarrett, whatโ€™s this all about?โ€

Jarrett said, โ€œThis is from Mr. Sutton, Ms. Dawson. Heโ€™s sorry about what happened. He was a bit impulsiveโ€ฆโ€

Ya had slammed the door shut before Jarrett could finish. Seeing this, Jarrett quickly said, โ€œMs. Dawson, Mr. Sutton is really sorry, and he even arranged for us to give you a ride home! Please donโ€™t make our job harder. Weโ€™re just doing what weโ€™re told! Ms. Dawson!โ€

Freya ignored Jarrettโ€™s frantic pleas at the door. Instead, Johanna ran down from upstairs, pointing at Freyaโ€™s nose. โ€œYoung lady, what are you thinking? You canโ€™t just snub Mr. Suttonโ€™s people!โ€

Johanna was desperate. Leland had crossed the Ramsey family, and clinging to Kieran was their only hope. The last thing she wanted was to offend Kieran.

With a smile, Johanna opened the door wide and said to Jarrett, โ€œSecretary Jarrett, Freyaโ€™s being shy. Donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll have her come with you!โ€

Listening to Johannaโ€™s shrewd words, Freya couldnโ€™t help but laugh. Johanna still owed her a considerable sum, yet she dared to offer Freya up to the Sutton family to plead on behalf of Leland. She was delusional.

โ€œJohanna, since when do you call the shots in the Dawson family?โ€

โ€œFreya, Iโ€™m only thinking of whatโ€™s best for you,โ€ Johanna approached, saying, โ€œIโ€™m working on getting the pearl earrings and the money. Just stay at Mr. Suttonโ€™s for a few days. Your brotherโ€™s in a tough spot, hospitalized, and we donโ€™t even know if heโ€™ll keep his leg. What will become of us if you donโ€™t go?โ€ As Johanna spoke, she began to tear up.

Watching Johannaโ€™s Oscar-level performance, Freya couldnโ€™t help but laugh. So, all this was just about using her to score points with Kieran. Yet Johanna was hamming it up like this.

โ€œFine, for your sake, Johanna, Iโ€™ll go. But the repayment schedule needs to change. Not seven days, but three.โ€

Hearing Freya shorten the deadline, Johanna clenched her teeth and agreed, โ€œDonโ€™t worry. As long as you go to the Sutton family, even if I have to sell my blood, Iโ€™ll get you the money within three days!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s settled then. Iโ€™ll revise the contract and send it over. Three days to repay, and donโ€™t forget about my motherโ€™s pearl earrings. You better not default.โ€

With that, her smile twitching, Johanna agreed, โ€œOkay, okay.โ€

Freya smiled and walked outside. Jarrett was surprised that Johanna persuaded Freya with just a few words and said, โ€œMs. Dawson, this way, please.โ€

โ€œThis time, Kieran wonโ€™t be throwing my stuff out, will he?โ€

โ€œOf course, no!โ€

โ€œGood.โ€

Freya got into the car. Inside the Dawson family home, worried about the repayment, Johanna immediately called Audrey. Once the call connected, Johanna said, โ€œMrs. Sutton, Freya has realized her mistake. But the Dawson familyโ€™s been having a hard time lately. I was wondering if we could borrow some money from you. We could even forego the dowry once Freya marries into your family.โ€
