Chapter 195
Eloise couldn't stand by and watch Freya swoop in and steal Kieran from under her nose. She whipped out her phone and dialed a number she knew well.
โHey, I need you to come back home. Iโve got a favor to ask!โ
By evening, Kieran had returned to the Sutton Mansion. Upon entering, he noticed only a lamp lit in the living room, while the sound of moving furniture echoed from upstairs.
Kieran frowned, asking, โTheyโre still not done?โ
Jarrett replied, โMs. Dawson has quite high standards. Weโve gone through three sets of furniture this afternoon.โ
โAnd where is she?โ
Jarrett looked a bit awkward as he said, โShe might beโฆ directing, I suppose.โ
โDirecting? Whatโs there for her to direct?โ With that, Kieranโs face darkened as he ascended the stairs. He was determined to see what scheme Freya was concocting this time!
A cloud of white dust billowed toward him as he reached the top. Noticing the mishap, the workers hurriedly apologized, โMr. Sutton, sorry! Ms. Dawson wanted to have the walls repainted, and wellโฆโ
Kieran found himself covered in a fine layer of white dust, his expression growing darker. Moving forward, he could already hear Freyaโs commands from a guest room. โYes, just like that, a bit to the left. Move the bed over hereโฆโ
Freya was casually munching on an apple as she directed the workers.
โFreya!โ
Uttered in Kieranโs voice, her name suddenly echoed behind her. She turned, meeting Kieranโs dark gaze at the doorway.
โMr. Sutton? What a coincidence. You here to supervise?โ
โSupervise?โ Kieran was nearly brought to laughter by her audacity. Turning his home into a mess, and Freya had the nerve to joke about it?
โMr. Sutton, Iโm so sorry. Is the dust bothering you?โ Freya said, approaching Kieran with a bucket of paint in hand.
Kieran instinctively stepped back upon seeing the paint.
โItโs quite fun to apply the putty. Care to give it a try, Mr. Sutton?โ Freya teased.
โFreya, keep that away from me!โ Kieran covered his mouth and grimaced, unwilling to take another step closer to the room.
Seeing sheโd achieved her goal, Freya continued, โMr. Sutton, I thought we could do without the renovations, but I just couldnโt get over the wall color. So, I had the workers give it a bit of a paint touch-up. Donโt mind it. By the way, if youโre hungry, dinnerโs ready downstairs. I believe the housekeeper left some food. You only need to heat it.โ
โMr. Sutton, perhaps we should leave.โ
The dust was becoming unbearable. Freya smiled politely at Kieran with a hint of calculation.
Kieranโs face was stormy as he left Freyaโs doorway. Freyaโs smile faded when he was gone. โHow amusing! Does he think he can outmaneuver me?โ
Freya knew about Kieranโs penchant for cleanliness and his meticulous nature. After seeing her room in such chaos, heโd likely never set foot there again.
As expected, Kieran immediately headed to his room to shower. Jarrett had been waiting outside the whole time.
An hour later, Kieran emerged, visibly disgusted as he sniffed his clothing, ensuring no trace of paint lingered.
โGet two air purifiers in here to clear out the smell,โ Kieran instructed after ensuring he was free of the unpleasant odor. Whatever Freya had used, it had left a foul smell permeating the hallway.
โRight away, Mr. Sutton,โ Jarrett responded, quickly leaving to fulfill the request.
