Chapter 267

Luna shot Freya a look that screamed, โ€œHelp me.โ€ Freya subtly gestured for Luna to make a run for it. When Luna fabricated that story about Kieran, Kieran had pinned it on the Jennings family. And Lunaโ€™s parents had warned her, time and again, not to cross Kieran. So, at that moment, the best plan for Luna was to bolt.

โ€œIโ€™ve got some stuff to take care of back home, Mr. Suttonโ€ฆ You two carry on.โ€ With that, Luna was out the door like a bat out of hell.

After Luna left, the room, already quiet, fell into complete silence. Indifferent as usual, Freya eyed Kieran and asked, โ€œMr. Sutton, did you need something?โ€

Kieran stepped closer, saying, โ€œI didnโ€™t know you cared so much about me.โ€

Freya was stunned. When did she show any concern for Kieran? Had any part of her conversation with Luna been about him? Wasnโ€™t it about her concerns?

โ€œWhatโ€ฆ what are you here for?โ€ Freyaโ€™s wariness toward Kieran grew by the second. Kieran and Eloise were like ticking time bombs to her, unpredictable and dangerous. Freya wished she could spend her whole life without ties to Kieran. But fate had cruelly thrown her back into a moment she was infatuated with him.

Left with no choice, she thought of every possible way to distance herself from Kieran.

โ€œThat land in the Southern Suburb, did you invest in it?โ€

โ€œYou came all this way just to ask me that?โ€ Freya frowned. Was Kieran out of his mind? He had never bothered with such trivialities before.

โ€œJust answer my question.โ€

โ€œNo!โ€

Of course, Freya couldnโ€™t admit she owned that piece of land in the Southern Suburb. So, she lied.

Kieranโ€™s expression remained impassive as he said, โ€œJarrett mentioned you were at school this morning.โ€

โ€œMr. Sutton, donโ€™t you think your question is too out of the blue?โ€ Freya couldnโ€™t see any connection between the two. Was he looking for trouble?

Kieranโ€™s gaze fixed on Freya as he casually mentioned, โ€œI have nothing to do with Flavia, and Kara means nothing to me.โ€

โ€œAnd why are you telling me this? Iโ€™m well aware youโ€™re involved with Eloise.โ€

In Kieranโ€™s mind, Flavia was only a potential business marriage prospect. Kara, at best, was a lesser version of Eloise.

After Eloise came back from abroad three years later, Kieran was determined to propose to her, no matter the cost. Eloise would accept, and they would have a grand wedding witnessed by the whole world. At that time, the only person who would suffer would be Kieranโ€™s business-arranged fiancรฉe.
