Chapter 268

Freya had no intention of playing the tragic side character in this story. As she was mulling over her situation, Kieran suddenly grabbed her arm. Freya instantly went on alert, glaring at Kieran and instinctively trying to pull her arm back. โ€œWhat the heck are you doing?โ€

โ€œStay still.โ€ Kieran looked down at the alarming scars on Freyaโ€™s arm and said, โ€œI promised to take care of you, and you fully recโ€” Donโ€™t try playing games with me, pretending to delay your recovery on purpose.โ€

โ€œAs if I have time for that,โ€ Freya snapped back without mercy. She thought he was crazy. She was eager for her wounds to heal quickly so she could ace her finals at Summit University.

Pulling her hand free, she said, โ€œMy arm is healing just fine. Thank you very much. Iโ€™ll be ready for physical therapy in a month, so thereโ€™s no need for your concern, Mr. Sutton.โ€

โ€œYet, I hear youโ€™ve been cramming at the library, trying to cover every possible subject for the finals?โ€

โ€œKieran, are you having me followed?โ€ Freya couldnโ€™t believe he would stoop to such tactics.

Kieranโ€™s expression remained calm and detached. โ€œYouโ€™re overthinking it. I donโ€™t need to follow you. People report your whereabouts to me.โ€

After saying that, Freya got the picture. It seemed the dean of Summit University was eager to curry favor with Kieran, looking to hit their annual performance targets.

โ€œAlright then. If thatโ€™s how Kieran wants to play it,โ€ Freya thought.

Freya retorted, โ€œI was bored, so I hit the library. Youโ€™re reading too much into it, Mr. Sutton. As for the finals, Iโ€™m not even sweating it.โ€

โ€œReally?โ€ Kieran scoffed. โ€œGiven your past performance, do you think you can graduate? Dream on! Maybe if you begged me, I might consider helping you out.โ€

Looking at Kieranโ€™s smug face, Freya wished she could spit at him and curse him out as a โ€œdamn businessman.โ€ But she held back her anger, saying, โ€œIf you came here to waste my time with this nonsense, I suggest you leave and let me rest.โ€

After that, Freya turned and lay on her bed, showing she had finished the conversation.

Waiting at the door, Jarrett cautiously entered after a while and said to Kieran, โ€œMr. Sutton, itโ€™s about time.โ€

Since noon, after Flavia had left, Mr. Sutton claimed he wasnโ€™t interested in Freyaโ€™s affairs, yet he couldnโ€™t resist coming over. He had a meeting scheduled for 4 PM, but there he was, wasting half an hour. If Audrey found out, there would be hell to pay.

Kieranโ€™s gaze finally shifted away from Freya as he replied indifferently, โ€œUnderstood.โ€

As he was about to leave, he paused by the doorway and added, โ€œSomeone will pick you up for the hospital tomorrow. Donโ€™t oversleep.โ€ With her eyes closed, Freya pretended not to hear. Ignoring him was her best defense. Kieran was the last person she wanted to deal with.

After the sound of the door closing, she finally opened her eyes and defiantly flipped the bird toward the door.

Outside, Jarrett followed Kieran, reporting, โ€œMr. Sutton, weโ€™ve tried digging into this Susan from W Group, but thereโ€™s nothing on her. Itโ€™s like sheโ€™s a ghost.โ€

Kieran frowned. โ€œNothing?โ€

โ€œNothing. Iโ€™ve used all our contacts abroad, and still, weโ€™ve found no trace of Susanโ€™s records. It indicates sheโ€™s no ordinary person.โ€

โ€œKeep looking.โ€

โ€œThat might be difficult,โ€ Jarrett hesitated, adding, โ€œPerhaps we should consider arranging a private meeting with this Susan?โ€
