Chapter 350

At Summit Universityโ€™s sprawling campus, Freya stepped into the restroom to inspect the bright red handprint on her face in the mirror. She clicked her tongue, muttering, โ€œThat hard of a slap? Serves her right to get expelled.โ€

Jennyโ€™s expulsion was all but a done deal. A slap in exchange for Jennyโ€™s expulsion seemed like a fair trade to Freya.

After assessing the damage to her face, Freya turned to leave the restroom, only to bump into Kieran. Her pupils instantly narrowed. How did she run into Kieran outside the ladiesโ€™ room?

Instinctively, Freya wanted to pretend she hadnโ€™t seen him, but Kieran wasnโ€™t about to let her slip away.

โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you tell me you got slandered?โ€

Kieranโ€™s words halted Freya in her tracks. Outside, she saw glaring caution tape stretched out, complete with a โ€œDo Not Disturbโ€ sign. Turning with a forced laugh, Freya said, โ€œMr. Sutton, fancy seeing you here. I didnโ€™t notice you just now.โ€

โ€œNot a coincidence. I was waiting here for you on purpose.โ€

Kieran had instructed Jarrett to relocate everyone from this floor to ensure privacy. He stepped toward Freya and pressed, โ€œYou havenโ€™t answered my question.โ€

โ€œMr. Sutton, weโ€™ve called off our engagement, meaning there shouldnโ€™t be anything between us anymore. Being slandered is my business. I donโ€™t need to inform you, right?โ€ Freya backed away, eager to put as much distance between them as she could.

โ€œIs that so?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€ Freya nodded earnestly.

As Freya thought Kieran was merely stirring trouble out of boredom, he suddenly stepped closer. This move put Freya on high alert. Her brow furrowed as she asked, โ€œWhat are you doing?โ€

โ€œWhy are you avoiding me?โ€

Memories of that night flashed in Freyaโ€™s mindโ€”Kieran grabbing her wrist, pinning her against the wall, and kissing her fiercely. Then, Freya said, โ€œMr. Sutton, Iโ€™m not avoiding you. I donโ€™t see a reason for us to meet.โ€

โ€œIs your injury healed?โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œThen, according to the agreement, Iโ€™m still your guardian until it is.โ€

โ€œGuardian? You?โ€ Freya almost laughed out loud.

Kieran, her guardian? The same Kieran who, in a past life, had handed her to kidnappers, watching her die, was claiming to be her guardian? What kind of joke was this?

โ€œIs that a problem?โ€ Kieran stated calmly. โ€œIโ€™ve given it some thought. I havenโ€™t treated you well before, so you have such a poor impression of me.โ€

โ€œAnd your point?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m thinking about changing the way I treat you,โ€ Kieran said, expecting to see a flash of delight or surprise cross Freyaโ€™s face. Instead, she impassively extended her hand, saying, โ€œSorry, no need.โ€

With that, Freya turned to leave.

Kieran called out, โ€œFreya!โ€

โ€œWhat now?โ€ Freya turned back, her tone impatient. โ€œIโ€™m having trouble moving around, Mr. Sutton. Could you tell your people not to tape off areas around restrooms? It makes it hard to walk.โ€
