Chapter 356
โIs there a problem?โ
โItโs bad for my reputation,โ Freya added.
Preston just shrugged, unbothered. โI do whatโs easy and helps me out. I donโt care about other peopleโs rep,โ he said.
โYouโฆโ
Truly, he was the man who had once fiercely competed with Kieran in their past lives. Freya held back her frustration. What else could she do? Fight him? Then sheโd surely be the one to end up worse off. She imagined a hundred ways she might lose that battle. So, she chose to bite her tongue.
Preston changed the subject. โHow did the exams go?โ
โThanks to you, absolutely brilliantly.โ
โHmm.โ
Preston said, โHand me your left hand.โ
โWhy?โ Freya asked, though her left hand was already reaching out to him.
Preston placed a jar of ointment in her hand. Freya recognized it; it was similar to the one Kieran had once specially made for her.
โWhere did you get this?โ
She remembered that this wasnโt something you could just buy. It was something special Kieran made just for her. You couldnโt even get it if you were ready to pay top dollar.
Preston simply said, โNeil sent it.โ
โOh.โ
That made sense. Preston, Mr. Cold-hearted, obviously wouldnโt lift a finger to help her.
โThese,โ he instructed, โapply three times a day for a month. That should do it.โ
โReally? Is it even better than what Kieran gave me before?โ
Freya examined the small jar in her hands.
Preston glanced at her and said, โDonโt compare what he gave you with what I give.โ
At that, Freya paused, looking at Preston to find him already looking away. Not to compare his gifts with Kieranโs? Right, sworn enemies and all that. Classic sworn enemy dialogue.
Freya pocketed the ointment, saying, โDr. Anderson really is a good man. I should find a way to properly thank him.โ
โThereโs an opportunity today.โ
โOh?โ
Freya looked at Preston, asking, โDr. Anderson is at your place?โ
โYeah.โ
โThen Iโll cook dinner tonight, a proper thank you to Dr. Anderson.โ
Freya stated, โNot to brag, but my cooking skills are pretty top-notch.โ
She looked at Preston earnestly. Though Preston seemed to ignore her words, the corners of his mouth twitched slightly upward in a momentary smile.
At the Tyler household, when Neil spotted the three of them coming back, he strolled up to them, apple in hand. โYouโre back so soon? I figured you had tests this afternoon.โ
โMore Bran monow, but weโre done for today.โ
