But when your boss gives an order, you just do it. So, Jarrett picked up the phone and dialed the principal’s office. The call was answered promptly.

“Mr. Sutton is inquiring about Ms. Dawson’s test today. Could you fax us a copy of her exam, please?” Jarrett requested.

“Of course, of course! I’ll get the proctor to send Ms. Dawson’s exam right over to The Sutton Group!” the principal responded eagerly.

After hanging up, the principal was puzzled. He had been all set with Ms. Harwood’s test. Why on earth was Mr. Sutton interested in Freya Dawson’s exam?

However, it didn’t take long before the fax machine spat out a copy of the exam, landing in Kieran’s hands. Kieran skimmed over the test. Freya’s answers were spot on, made sense, and were straight to the point—couldn’t have asked for better responses. Moreover, she had taken some innovative approaches, especially in the calculations, which were spot on. The only flaw was her handwriting, which was a bit awkward.

Kieran frowned upon seeing the exam.

“Didn’t I say to switch out the entire test? Did you do it?”

“Mr. Sutton, I’ve checked the exam, and it’s completely different from the original. It’s definitely been changed.”

“And the answers?”

“As per your instructions, only the principal had access to the answers. No one else could possibly have them.” Upon hearing this, Kieran handed the exam to Jarrett.

Taking the exam, Jarrett was equally puzzled by the answers.

“This is…?”

“This is Freya’s own work.”

Kieran was more ready to believe Freya had cheated than admit she really got finance stuff this good. Without a few years of experience, it would be hard to produce such a comprehensive set of answers.

“Mr. Sutton, could it be that Ms. Dawson learned something from her late father?”

“To run The Dawson Group into the ground like that, and you’re telling me she learned a bit?”

Anyone with a brain wouldn’t have turned such a promising enterprise into a mess.

“But I heard that after Mr. Dawson passed away, The Dawson Group was managed by Johanna and her son, with no direct involvement from Ms. Dawson.”

Hearing Jarrett say this, Kieran’s brow furrowed deeper. He suddenly remembered visiting Freya’s home after their engagement party. He had seen her be quite aggressive towards Johanna and her son, mentioning something about the company and inheritance. At that time, Freya wasn’t really on his radar, so he didn’t really take notice. But now, with Jarrett’s reminder, Kieran connected the dots.

No wonder Freya acted that way towards her stepmother and half-brother. If he were in her shoes, he definitely wouldn’t have let them off easy either.

“Who’s running the Dawson family’s business now?”

“It seems to have reverted back to Ms. Dawson’s hands.”

“Find out, find out how the company got back to Freya.”

“Right away, Mr. Sutton.”
