Claire Wilson's heart still thumped excitedly as she left Wilson Team's workplace. Granny would formally announce her new placement tomorrow. Finally, she could hold her head high!
She turned to Charlie Wade and said gleefully, "Charlie Wade, thank you! If it weren't for your support, I wouldn't have risked taking the challenge."
Charlie Wade smiled. "Precious, you deserve this." He turned away, then back to her, saying, "Oh yes, it's such a fantastic and happy occasion. Let's celebrate, shall we?"
"How do you want to do it?" Claire Wilson asked.
"Our third wedding anniversary is around the corner; let's celebrate it together! I'll prepare everything; you just need to relax."
Claire Wilson gaped in shock. "Are you going to surprise me?"
"Yes!" Charlie Wade chuckled. "I'm giving you a surprise!"
A wave of warmth washed over Claire Wilson's heart. "Okay, I won't ask for any details then."
"You don't need to; just wait!"
Charlie Wade had several plans for a special wedding anniversary celebration. His primary goal was to make amends. He'd been poor previously, unable to afford gifts or even a proper wedding for his wife. Now that he was wealthy, he wanted to compensate her.
After work, Charlie Wade went alone to Emerald Court, a jewelry shop in the center of Aurouss Hill. He wanted to buy a gift for his wife before booking a celebratory hotel room.
When he entered, the salespeople ignored him, noticing his counterfeit Adidas sneakers. Undeterred, Charlie Wade browsed until he found a jade pendant in a glass case. It was elegant and exquisite, perfect for Claire.
He called a salesperson over. "Hi, please take this pendant out; I'd like to see it."
The salesperson glanced at him indifferently. "I don't have the key; it's with our manager." He used the intercom: "Miss Wolfe, someone wants to see our most prized possession!"
An attractively made-up woman, Jane Wolfe, the sales manager, rushed over enthusiastically. "Which VIP wants to see our treasured collection?"
The employee pointed to Charlie Wade. "This man."
Jane's expression changed. How could this seemingly impoverished customer afford the shop's most prized treasure?
She asked the male salesperson, "Gill, you're kidding, right?"
"No, he wants to see the necklace."
Jane scoffed. "Are you telling me this loser can afford it? Are you blind? If you are, tell me so I can fire you!" She could instantly assess a customer's purchasing power and deemed Charlie Wade impecunious.
The salesperson remained silent, but Charlie Wade frowned. "You're open for business, right? I want to see the pendant. What's the problem?"
Jane sneered. "Yes, we're open, but we don't deal with the financially challenged. You can't afford it; get out!"
Charlie Wade's frown deepened. "How do you know I can't afford it? What makes you think that?"
Jane mocked, "This jade necklace is worth tens of millions of dollars. You want to take a picture of it for Instagram, right?"
Jane stood arms crossed, looking snobbish.
Nearby shoppers, overhearing the price, gasped and pointed at Charlie Wade, murmuring about his audacity and inappropriate attire.
Charlie Wade glared at Jane's contemptuous smile. He decided to teach her a lesson. He pulled out his phone and called Stephen.
"I need you to bring thirteen million dollars in cash to Emerald Court in ten minutes."
"Okay, Young Master."
Jane smirked. "Wow, such extravagance! Thirteen million in cash? I haven't seen that much money in my life! I hope you'll let me feast my eyes!"
Charlie Wade replied flatly, "Since you haven't seen it before, you will soon."
Scoffs and comments filled the shop.
A few minutes later, several Rolls-Royces pulled up outside Emerald Court. Men carrying a black leather suitcase emerged, their expressions stern and intimidating. Everyone in the shop was stunned into silence.
