“Class reunion?” Elaine Ma scoffed. “You’re all dying old men! Why would you want one? It’s just an excuse for old lovers to date!”

“Oh my God, shut up!” Jacob Wilson exclaimed. “It’s just the guys; we didn’t invite any women.”

Elaine Ma frowned skeptically.

“Really! You know our class—only a few women, and they all live overseas. It’s just us men,” Jacob insisted.

“No, I don’t believe you! You can’t go!” Elaine shouted. “You’re going to see that old flame! I know it!”

Charlie Wade was surprised. Did his father-in-law have a secret romance?

“What old flame? Just friends!” Jacob protested.

Elaine Ma snorted, turning away.

Jacob tried again, anxiously. “Charlie has to come with me. Our teacher’s wheelchair-bound, the old campus has no elevator, so we need strong young men to carry him to the fifth-floor classroom. Charlie can be my witness and report everything to you. If there’s a woman there, I’ll take the consequences!”

“No, you’re not going!” Elaine growled.

Jacob, annoyed, burst out, “My friends and I haven’t seen each other in years! And our teacher’s eighty-something—this might be the last time I see him!”

Claire Wilson looked at her parents. “Mom, let Dad go. It’s not easy to organize a reunion at his age. You don’t want him to be the laughingstock for missing it, do you?”

Elaine glared. “What do you know? Your dad had a long affair with a woman in his class. If I hadn’t intervened, you wouldn’t exist!”

Charlie found this peculiar. Elaine seemed like the homewrecker, yet she acted reasonable.

Jacob blushed, embarrassed. “Stop it! Don’t tell the kids about our embarrassing past!”

He turned to Claire. “Claire, don’t listen to your mother’s nonsense. She always makes things up…”

Claire blushed, not wanting to hear about her parents’ past. “Mom, let Dad go to the reunion. You can go play mahjong!”

Jacob’s eyes widened. “If you don’t let me go, you can’t play mahjong either! We’ll both stay home!”

Elaine was outraged. “Damn it, I’m making money at mahjong! Summer’s going to the US; I need to play a few more games with her before she leaves. I make three to five thousand per game!”

She turned to Charlie. “Charlie, go with your father! Call me immediately if there’s a woman there. I’ll tear his face off!”

Chapter 557

Jacob was intimidated but said, “A straight arrow has no fear of a crooked path!”

Elaine glared. “I don’t want to talk to you. I’m going to play mahjong.”

She stood, hand outstretched. “Car keys!”

“What? Why do you need the car? I need it later!”

Elaine rolled her eyes contemptuously. “To show off to your friends? No way! Keys!”

Jacob sighed, handing her the keys. “Drive carefully, don’t scratch it.”

“Shut up! If you provoke me again, I’ll drive this car into a ditch!”

Jacob was agitated, but Elaine felt triumphant. She put on her jacket, smiled, and left.

After she left, Jacob sighed. “Charlie, come to the reunion with me. Some friends will bring young people to help too.”

“Okay, Dad,” Charlie replied, though he didn't want to go.

Claire gave Jacob her car keys. “Dad, use my car. I’ll take a taxi.”

“Forget it,” Jacob waved his hand. “It’s the cheapest BMW 5 Series. My friends will laugh.”

Claire shrugged, putting the keys away. “You’ll have to take a taxi then.”

Charlie nodded, thinking, Damn, the old man’s vain! Does he consider Claire’s 5 Series embarrassing? Does he know it’s a 760?

Chapter 558

Downstairs, Elaine heard a familiar voice.

“Elaine Ma, wait!”

It was Hannah, Christopher’s wife. Elaine was surprised. She’d humiliated Hannah and Christopher at Summer’s villa, and hadn’t expected this.

“Hannah, why are you here?” Elaine asked curiously.

Resentment toward Christopher and Hannah flooded Elaine’s mind, filling her with glee. She'd worried about her pension if the Wilsons went bankrupt, but now she wanted their ruin—to mock Christopher and Hannah! She'd been mocked for so long, she wanted revenge. Seeing Hannah was a delight; the loser had come to her!

Hannah looked apologetic. “Elaine Ma, I’m here to apologize…”

She cleared her throat. “I’ve looked down on you, been rude, and badmouthed you. I deeply regret it. I offer my sincere apology.”

She flushed, bowing deeply.

Elaine was taken aback. She’d expected a fight, not this humility.

Hannah, seeing Elaine silent, knelt, crying and begging. “Elaine Ma, are you still angry? I’m so sorry! We’re sisters-in-law, outsiders in the Wilson family. We should stick together!”

She slapped herself, crying. “Elaine Ma, I was immature. Please forgive me. Let’s be friends!”

Elaine was thrilled! The aloof Hannah had knelt and slapped herself! It was so satisfying.

Hannah, noticing Elaine’s smirk, hid her anger, sighing. “Elaine Ma, I’ve come to my senses. I’ve been so rude, for what? I gained nothing. I regret it. If I’d been nicer…”

She continued earnestly. “It’s all my fault. Please forgive me, for our relationship’s sake.”

Elaine, though overjoyed, said calmly, “Hannah, you’ve surprised me! I thought you’d never learn!”

Hannah smiled bashfully. “Huh, see? I’m sorry!”

Elaine’s long-held dream had come true. She felt proud. “Well, I’m not petty. Since you’ve realized your mistakes, I forgive you. Let’s let bygones be bygones.”

Hannah, gratefully, “Oh, thank you! You have such a forgiving heart! Let’s be best friends!” (Internally cursing Elaine.)

Elaine took her car keys. “Hannah, I have to go. I’m meeting friends for mahjong. See ya!”

Hannah, wanting to invite Elaine, stopped her. “Huh, you’re going to play mahjong?”

Elaine nodded. “Yes, why?”

“What a coincidence! I have a wealthy friend who loves mahjong, but her skills are poor. She doesn’t care about money; she just enjoys the fun. She loses tens of thousands easily.”

Hannah lowered her voice. “She’s looking for mahjong partners. Are you interested? We can team up and win big!”

Elaine happily agreed. “Okay, let’s play with your friends!”

Hannah smiled widely. “Deal! She’s very rich. Lives in a Thompson First villa. When can we go?”

In the car, Hannah smirked coldly, looking at Elaine’s eagerness. She’d hired two con women and rented the Thompson First villa to win all of Elaine’s money and property! Elaine was walking into a trap.

Meanwhile, Charlie and Jacob arrived at Bell Height University. Charlie was surprised—his father-in-law, who always seemed useless, graduated from an ivy league school!

Jacob sighed at Charlie’s surprise. “Why? You don’t think I look like a college graduate?”

Charlie nodded blankly. “Dad, you really don’t…”

Jacob sighed proudly. “Back then, I was popular and excelled academically. I could’ve furthered my studies up north, but I didn’t want to be far from home.”

Charlie chuckled. “What happened later? Why did you become a househusband after graduating from a prestigious university?”

Jacob choked. “Later… Sigh, it’s a long story…”

A man, Eric Shaw, approached. “Jacob Wilson, long time no see! You’re so smart and charming!”

Jacob laughed. “Eric? We haven’t seen each other in thirty years! You must be doing very well!”

Eric shook his head. “Nah, not compared to you, Jacob. You’re, as the kids say, the rich kid on the block…”

Another man, Aaron, approached. “Rich kid my ass! You don’t know his situation… The Wilson family is done, and Jacob isn’t doing so well…”

Jacob’s expression darkened. “Aaron, what’s your point? Mind your own business.”

Eric tried to ease the tension. “Guys, look at yourselves. Why are you two still like Tom and Jerry? Remember the girlfriend situation?”

Jacob sneered. “Why should I care? He’s my defeated opponent! He was so jealous, he cried every day in the dorm! He wanted to kill me!”

Others laughed. “Yes! He was infatuated! His eyes were swollen!”

Charlie was astonished. Had his father-in-law and Aaron been rivals for the same woman? Elaine Ma was clearly a firecracker.

Aaron was agitated. “Don’t call me your defeated opponent! Did you win? Did Matilda stay with you? No, she dumped you and went to the States!”

Matilda? Charlie realized they weren’t talking about Elaine Ma.

The friends laughed. “Jacob, why did Matilda break up with you?”

Jacob waved his hand awkwardly. “Let’s not talk about the past…”
