The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 561-565

Chapter 561

Charlie Wade, curious about the buzz surrounding Matilda, asked his father, Jacob Wilson, "Dad, who is this Matilda everyone's talking about?"

Jacob, rolling his eyes, hushed him, "Shhh! Don't rub it in!"

Charlie shrugged and remained silent. As the crowd grew, Aaron puffed out his chest and introduced his son-in-law, Jake Dunn. "Everyone, meet my son-in-law. He owns a startup in the internet service industry, soon to be listed on the Growth Enterprise Market."

Eric exclaimed, "Wow! How much will it be worth? Hundreds of millions?"

Aaron smirked, "A billion, at least! Do you know how difficult it is to get listed? It requires a strong foundation and stability to pass the Securities Regulatory Commission's reviews." He added, "Once listed, it'll exceed $1 billion! Its performance has skyrocketed in the last two years. If you're looking to invest, buy its shares!"

Jake, who had been quiet, interjected, "Dad, relax. I'm just a newcomer to the industry. I'm nothing compared to your accomplished friends." His modesty impressed the crowd.

An older man sighed, "Aaron, your son-in-law is so young, promising, and humble. You're lucky!"

Aaron nodded smugly. Turning to Jacob, he asked pointedly, "What does your son-in-law do?"

Jacob glanced at Charlie and sighed. Unable to lie convincingly, he mumbled, "He does housework."

Laughter erupted. Aaron grinned. "Housework? No job, then? Jacob, I heard you're a househusband. Let my son-in-law assign you jobs. You, Jacob, can be a gatekeeper. Your son-in-law, with his housework experience, can work in the staff canteen as a chef and waiter."

The crowd laughed again. Charlie remained silent, unfazed by the insults; he'd endured worse. Jacob, however, was furious, inwardly cursing Aaron for his taunts and lingering resentment over Matilda.

Aaron, seeing no reaction, pressed on, "Jacob, are you deaf? I offered you jobs!" He turned to Charlie, "Young man, your father's age excuses his slowness and rudeness. But you? Are you equally impolite?"

Charlie smiled, "Uncle, frankly, I'm not cheap. My salary demands are very high."

Chapter 562

"High salary?" Aaron sneered. "How high? Four or five thousand enough as a chef?"

Jake, wanting to please his father-in-law, offered, "Dad, he's your old friend's son-in-law. I'll give him ten thousand a month!"

Charlie chuckled, "I don't want money."

Aaron frowned. "Then what do you want?"

"Whoever hires me marries their daughter to me. My father-in-law wanted me for housework; he married his daughter to me. So, Aaron, if you want me, you marry your daughter to me!"

Aaron exploded, "Ungrateful! I offer you a job, and this is your thanks?!"

Jake glared, "Hey, my father-in-law has only one daughter—my wife! Watch what you say!"

Charlie chuckled, "Funny. I never asked for a job. You started it. I stated my terms. Yes or no. Simple. Three years I've done housework—cooking, cleaning, shopping—my wife is my salary. Your terms, or shut up."

Aaron and Jake were speechless. Charlie was right. They had been pompous; he'd simply stated his conditions. The crowd intervened, urging them to end the argument. Aaron and Jake were frustrated but couldn't retaliate without appearing petty. Jacob, however, was thrilled with Charlie's clever retort. Jake, resentful, knew he needed to regain the upper hand.

Chapter 563

To turn the tables, Jake brought up Matilda. "Dad, what's the deal with this Matilda? You seem close."

Aaron glanced at Jacob and grinned, "Matilda Hall was the most beautiful girl in our year. If her admirers lined up, they'd circle the university twice. She chose Jacob! He had to avoid being ambushed."

"What happened next?"

Aaron laughed, "Then Matilda dumped him and went to the US. She hasn't returned." He mocked Jacob, "Jacob, why did Matilda break up with you?"

Jacob growled, "It's none of your business."

Aaron laughed, "She used you as a fake boyfriend to avoid her admirers, then dumped you! Hahaha!"

Jacob began to explain but trailed off, his expression shifting from anger to sadness and regret. He sighed, "Forget it."

Aaron pressed, "Don't leave it hanging! Wasn't she done with you?"

Jacob insisted it wasn't so. Aaron retorted that Jacob was simply too embarrassed to admit he'd been fooled. Jacob gave up, and Aaron felt frustrated. More people arrived, over twenty, all men from their university days. They began reminiscing, some with tears in their eyes.

Chapter 564

Eric ushered them inside, prompting questions about their earlier conversation. Eric mentioned Matilda, wondering if she would attend. Aaron sneered, predicting Jacob couldn't forget Matilda given his current "dire" life. Someone asked about Jacob's situation. Aaron promised to explain later. Jacob snapped at him to be quiet, but Aaron taunted him about controlling his mouth.

Inside, nostalgia filled the room. Aaron sighed before revealing that Matilda had used Jacob to avoid her admirers. He added details about Jacob's supposedly difficult mother and his daughter marrying a "loser" son-in-law—an orphan moocher. Charlie found it amusing that Aaron knew so much about his family's circumstances, indicating a deep resentment. Someone was shocked by Jacob's decline from top student and student union chairman. Jacob angrily told Aaron to shut up. Jake chuckled, urging Jacob to be more open-minded. Jacob was unhappy; his happiness was built on his pain.

Aaron glared at Jacob before revealing the "worst" part. "He married Elaine Ma Parker, the school's number one vixen!"

Chapter 565

Charlie was shocked to hear Elaine Ma was Jacob's college classmate and known as the "number one vixen." He found it hard to believe, given her apparent lack of sophistication. Everyone was stunned. Elaine had a reputation for arrogance, stubbornness, and viciousness; stealing was common, and she would aggressively confront anyone who caught her. One notorious incident involved a stolen thermos, resulting in a boy being scalded with hot water and threatened with sulfuric acid.

Hearing Jacob married Elaine shocked everyone. Someone sympathetically asked why Jacob married her. Jacob snapped, annoyed by their questions. Aaron, delighted, recounted the senior year party where Elaine got Jacob drunk, then took him to a motel. Aaron claimed to have followed them and implied they had sex, resulting in an unplanned pregnancy. Since Matilda had left the country, Jacob was forced to marry Elaine.
