The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 631-635
Chapter 631
Donald was thrilled to learn Anthony was in Aurouss Hill. He'd long heard of Anthony's exceptional medical skills, including his cure of high paraplegia. He believed Anthony could cure his second son, Kian's, strange illness.
Elated, Donald turned to Sean. "Prepare a generous gift! We'll see Dr. Anthony at the Serene World Clinic early tomorrow morning!"
Sean nodded. "Okay, Dad. I'll make the necessary preparations."
Donald smiled, a rare sight. Relaxed and relieved, he said, "Let's solve everything at once. Cure Kian, find the culprit, and then help you win Jasmine from the Moore family. I want Kian healthy enough to be your best man."
Sean reassured him, "Don't worry, Dad. Everything will work out. Kian will be my best man."
Donald, proud, sighed with relief. "I'm proud to call you my son!"
Sean, though outwardly pleased, felt frustrated. Before Kian's illness, he hadn't worried about the Webb family inheritance. Kian was still in university and inexperienced in the family business.
Now, however, Sean saw Kian's illness as an advantage. He secretly hoped Anthony couldn't cure him. He knew he couldn't disobey his father, so he could only pray for Kian's continued illness.
Meanwhile, the dinner guests showered Donald with praise. Some offered toasts.
Albert, Zeke, and Graham sensed Donald and Sean's desire to uncover Charlie Wade's identity, suspecting they would act against him if they learned of his relationship with Jasmine.
Albert, with his years of experience in the underworld, had a strong hunch that Charlie Wade was responsible for Kian's condition—a transformation into a compulsive coprophage. He couldn't think of anyone else in Aurouss Hill capable of such a feat.
The only question was why? Kian, a young university student, seemed unlikely to have any connection with, much less enmity toward, Charlie Wade.
Then, Albert remembered Graham's daughter, Aurora, also attended Aurous University of Finance and Economics. Perhaps Aurora was the link between Charlie Wade and Kian. Had a conflict between them arisen because of her?
Albert believed Charlie Wade wouldn't have acted without provocation. He was humble and low-key, reacting only to deliberate aggression. He concluded that a disagreement over Aurora had likely led to the conflict.
Chapter 632
Albert worried about the consequences. Donald intensely hated Kian's attacker and Jasmine's lover. If these were two different people, both faced death. If it was the same person, the Webb family would relentlessly pursue them. His worry centered on Charlie Wade. Despite Charlie's strength, Albert feared the Webb family's power.
After dinner, the guests escorted Donald and Sean downstairs. Even Cain and the other dogs accompanied them to their car.
Albert, Zeke, and Graham returned to The Heaven Springs. In Albert's office, Graham worriedly asked, "The Webb family will go after Mr. Wade. What should we do?"
Zeke sighed. "Only a few of us know about Jasmine's feelings for Mr. Wade."
Albert waved his hand. "The Webb family will uncover this soon. Many within the Moore family, and anyone who's witnessed their interactions, know about it."
Grimly, he added, "I'm worried about more than that." He turned to Graham. "Mr. Quinton, is your daughter, Aurora, studying at Aurous University of Finance and Economics?"
"Yes," Graham replied. "I want her to excel in business management to help the family business."
Albert nodded. "Did you know Kian also attends that university?"
"Yes," Graham replied. "What's wrong?"
Albert replied, "I suspect Mr. Wade is responsible for Kian's illness."
Chapter 633
"What?!" Graham and Zeke exclaimed.
Graham asked, "Why do you think that?"
Albert said, "Possibly because of Aurora. Call your daughter and ask if she knows anything."
Graham's expression turned serious. He nodded. "I'll call Aurora now."
Aurora was practicing martial arts in her home gym. She'd been intensely training since learning about Charlie Wade, wanting to improve her strength to impress him, even if she knew it was impossible to match him.
She admired powerful men, those who could completely captivate her—Charlie Wade being the epitome.
Her phone rang, disrupting her thoughts. It was her father.
"Dad!"
Graham solemnly asked, "Aurora, answer truthfully: Did you ask Mr. Wade to do this to Kian?"
"Ahh?!" Aurora stammered. "Dad, how did you find out? Did Mr. Wade tell you?"
Graham was shocked. She'd overstepped her boundaries! Why had Charlie Wade helped her? This was causing him trouble!
"You little brat! I sent you to university to study, not to cause trouble for Mr. Wade! Didn't you know Kian's family background?!"
Aurora, aggrieved, replied, "I didn't know… I only knew his family was well-off. I didn't know the details. And I didn't ask Mr. Wade to deal with Kian! Kian manipulated my best friend, who nearly committed suicide because of him. I had no choice but to ask Mr. Wade for help. I only wanted him to save her, but he dealt with Kian instead because he didn't want him to hurt anyone else."
Chapter 634
Graham sighed. "You've caused trouble for Mr. Wade! The Webb family is looking for him! Donald's gathering Aurouss Hill's elite to help find out more about Mr. Wade!"
"What?!" Aurora panicked. "Dad, will the Webb family harm Mr. Wade?"
Graham replied, "They're after his life!"
Aurora cried, "Dad, it's my fault! Tell the Webb family it was me! I don't want Mr. Wade involved!"
"Are you that stupid?!" Graham sighed. "Do you think they'll let him go? They'll get rid of both of you!"
"What should I do?" Aurora cried. "He's not in danger, right?"
Graham replied, "They haven't found out yet. Tell me everything. How many people know?"
Aurora replied, "Only Mr. Wade and I."
"Only you two?" Graham asked. "What about your best friend?"
Aurora replied, "It's strange. She doesn't remember Mr. Wade at all. She only remembers having an epiphany about living well."
Graham sighed. "Mr. Wade's methods are superb! Neither Kian nor your friend remember him."
He continued, "That's a relief. But be careful. Don't mention this to anyone. Understand?"
Aurora replied, "Yes, Dad."
"Avoid contact with Mr. Wade for now," Graham instructed. "Don't cause him more trouble."
Aurora felt sad but understood. She agreed to obey. Graham hung up.
Zeke asked, "Graham, was Mr. Wade really responsible for Kian's illness?"
Graham nodded. "Albert was right!"
Albert said, "Should we tell Mr. Wade? Warn him?"
"Of course!" Graham said. "We need to clarify our position. If Mr. Wade finds out we had dinner with Donald, he might misunderstand us."
Graham sighed, "If I'd known Donald planned to target Mr. Wade, I wouldn't have gone, even if it meant my life!"
Albert cursed, "I thought I was being considerate. I even let him use the Diamond Room…"
Zeke said, "We should be loyal to Mr. Wade. We must inform him."
Graham nodded. "I'll call him now!"
Chapter 635
Charlie Wade was cleaning up after dinner when Graham called.
"Mr. Quinton, why are you calling?"
Graham replied, "Mr. Wade, after discussing it with Mr. White and Don Albert, I need to report something."
Charlie Wade smiled. "Speak freely."
Graham explained about Donald's banquet and their suspicions. Upon hearing about the Webb family's banquet, Charlie Wade asked, "Why did they seek you out?"
Graham explained Kian's situation and Aurora's confession, fearing the Webb family would come after Charlie.
Charlie Wade smiled indifferently. "Yes, I'm responsible for Kian's condition. His behavior was unacceptable. He manipulated girls, so I taught him a lesson."
Graham was surprised by Charlie's direct confession and his lack of concern about the consequences. He wondered at Charlie's confidence in facing the Webb family.
Graham quickly said, "Mr. Wade, don't worry. We'll keep this secret. Even if the Webb family finds out, we won't help them!"
Charlie Wade smiled. "They can come after me. I'm Charlie Wade, and I fear nothing. Tell them I did it. If Donald isn't convinced, let him come and confront me."
Graham cautioned, "Mr. Wade, the Webb family is powerful. Becoming enemies with them will be troublesome."
"Thank you for your concern, but don't worry," Charlie said. "There's always a solution."
Graham then revealed the Webb family's second motive: helping Sean win Jasmine, given her existing relationship with someone else.
He tentatively asked, "Mr. Wade, are you the man Miss Moore is in love with?"
Charlie paused. "Don't spread rumors. I'm a married man. This would harm her reputation."
Graham apologized. "You're right. I won't do it again!"
Charlie Wade said lightly, "Don't worry about me. The Webb family isn't a threat."
