The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 641-645
Chapter 641
Donald's voice fell, and his bodyguards swarmed into the clinic. They kicked over medicine racks, scattering herbs and materials. Medicine pots shattered on the floor. In moments, the medical hall was in ruins.
Anthony trembled with rage, but he was powerless to stop them. He watched silently as his clinic was destroyed. Donald snorted coldly. "Dr. Simmons, you have three days to consider my proposal. Dare to reopen, and I'll destroy it again! Think carefully."
Donald, Sean, and the bodyguards left. A young staff member cried out, "Dr. Simmons, should we call the police?"
Anthony waved his hand. "No. The Webb family is too influential. Calling the police is pointless."
"What should we do?" the young man asked.
"We'll repair the clinic and reopen," Anthony replied.
"But he said he'll destroy it again!" the young man protested.
Anthony said indifferently, "Am I to stop practicing medicine because I fear him? I've dedicated my life to this. I won't stop treating patients."
The young man sighed, impressed by Anthony's courage and compassion. He then asked, "Should I call Sister Xyla? She's probably waiting to take you to Lord Moore's birthday banquet."
Anthony nodded, remembering the banquet. Lord Moore, whom he'd treated recently, had invited him to his eightieth birthday celebration. Xyla had gone to Raventon yesterday to buy a gift and planned to pick him up. Anthony then recalled a rumour: Donald and his son were staying at the Moore mansion and would be at the banquet.
He decided not to attend. Encountering the Webbs would cause trouble for Lord Moore. He didn't have the heart for a party anyway; his clinic was his priority. He called Lord Moore, feigning illness (a cold), and excused himself. Lord Moore was concerned but understanding, rescheduling their meeting.
Chapter 642
Donald and Sean drove back to the Moore mansion. Donald had planned to convince Anthony to treat Kian, his son, and had a private jet ready. He'd then attend the banquet with Sean before returning to Sudbury.
He hadn't anticipated Anthony's refusal and his callous comment about Kian's predicament. In the car, Donald cursed Anthony.
Sean, secretly pleased Anthony refused, said, "Dad, should we hire hitmen?"
"No!" Donald exclaimed. "Many influential people owe Anthony favors. Killing him would cause a backlash against the Webb family."
Sean agreed to focus on destroying the clinic if it reopened. Donald saw it as intimidation. Sean worried about Anthony's refusal.
Donald planned to ask Lord Moore to intervene. Sean pointed out it was inappropriate during the banquet. Donald agreed to speak to Lord Moore later. He then urged Sean to cultivate a relationship with Jasmine and marry her quickly.
Sean assured him he'd given Jasmine a gift, confident she would accept. Donald agreed, praising Jasmine's capabilities and the benefits of her alliance with the Webb family. They arrived at the Moore mansion.
Chapter 643
Donald praised Sean's progress, noting his observation of Jasmine's seemingly cheap bracelet. Sean attributed his improved actions to learning from his father. Cain, who'd been waiting outside, presented Sean with an expensive bracelet, explaining the cost. Sean was pleased and allowed Cain to keep the remaining two million dollars. Donald rewarded Cain for his loyalty.
Donald asked Cain if Lord Moore invited him to the banquet. Cain confessed he wasn't invited but hoped for the opportunity to network. Donald, wanting to show Cain's allegiance to the Webb family, offered to take him. Cain was overjoyed. Donald took Cain into the mansion.
Chapter 644
They arrived and saw Jasmine, elegantly dressed, leaving. Sean stopped her, curious about the important guest she was picking up. Jasmine curtly replied it was the most important guest. Sean, feeling slighted, offered Jasmine the expensive bracelet.
Jasmine, angered, revealed the bracelet she wore was a precious relic from her mother. Sean's comment about it being “rubbish” enraged her. She vehemently rejected his gift and drove off.
Chapter 645
Sean was devastated, realizing his blunder. Donald, confused by Jasmine's reaction, learned of Sean's mistake. He scolded Sean for his lack of observation, advising him to learn from this. Sean wondered about the important guest Jasmine picked up. Donald dismissed it, unsure, and urged Sean to observe Jasmine's return.
Jasmine, missing Charlie, decided to pick him up personally, knowing she wouldn't have private time at the banquet. Lord Moore readily approved. As she drove, Jasmine prepared to call Charlie. Charlie, it being a weekend, had only just prepared breakfast.
