Chapter 646

Claire Wilson emerged from the bedroom, stretching. "Do you have plans today, Charlie Wade?" she asked.

"I'm going to a friend's birthday party at noon," he replied. Then, turning to Claire, he added, "Wife, did you need something?"

Claire nodded slightly. "Yes, I wanted to go shopping, but if you're busy, go ahead. I'll ask Loreen to come with me."

"Sorry, my dear wife. Go shopping with Loreen. I'll join you another day," Charlie replied.

Claire smiled. "Okay."

Elaine Ma, Charlie's mother-in-law, scowled. "Oh, Charlie Wade, attending a friend's birthday? How old is he?"

"Eighty," Charlie replied.

Elaine sneered. "Using your 'silly skills' to con old men out of their money?"

"I didn't lie," Charlie said simply.

Elaine snorted coldly. "Still pretending? Are there any wealthy people in Aurous Hill you haven't fooled? Let me tell you, your future is either prison or being hacked to death!"

Elaine had been furious since Charlie donated her lost money to the Hope Foundation. Her accounts were empty; even her beauty salon card was depleted. She dreaded explaining this to her husband and daughter. She blamed Charlie.

Jacob Wilson, hearing Elaine's attack, stood up. "Why are you doing this? Charlie's proven himself!"

"Nonsense!" Elaine retorted. She was unaware Jacob had gained face recently thanks to Charlie.

Ignoring Jacob's defense, Elaine cursed, "Don't be fooled, Jacob! He'll sell you out!"

Jacob, weary, handed Charlie his car keys. "Charlie, I've reserved a room at The Heaven Springs for dinner tonight. I'll be drinking with the Calligraphy and Painting Association leaders and can't drive. Pick me up around 8:30."

Charlie nodded, taking the keys. "What time should I pick you up, Dad?"

"Dinner's at seven. We should be done by 8:30 or 9:00. Come at 8:30," Jacob replied.

"Okay."

Elaine immediately pounced. "Jacob Wilson! The Heaven Springs? Where did you get the money?"

Jacob, unwilling to reveal Charlie's generosity, snapped, "Why do you care? I'm not spending your money!"

"A room at The Heaven Springs costs twenty to thirty thousand! Do you have that kind of money to waste?" Elaine demanded.

"I'm competing for the position of standing director! Twenty or thirty thousand is nothing! And it's not your money!" Jacob retorted angrily.

Elaine fumed. "I could get several facials with twenty thousand! Why waste it on dinner?"

"I've never stopped you spending ten to twenty thousand a month at the salon! You're holding over two million in family savings. You can spend yours, and I'll spend mine! Why control me?" Jacob countered, reminding her of the family savings – now gone.

Elaine was stunned. The two million, donated to the Hope Foundation, was gone. She couldn't even afford a facial! The thought of using Jacob's dinner money for facials stung.

Chapter 647

Charlie found Elaine's outburst amusing, knowing her money was gone. Her usual lavish spending now caused her despair. Jacob's Heaven Springs dinner further depressed her.

"No! Give me the twenty thousand you're spending on dinner!" Elaine demanded.

"Why?" Jacob exclaimed, anxious. "Elaine Ma, you have all our savings! You still want my money?"

Elaine, guilty, stubbornly persisted. "Go somewhere cheaper! Spend ten thousand, give me the rest!"

"You have plenty! Why take mine?" Jacob protested.

"I don't care! No ten thousand, no dinner! If I let you leave, I've lost!" Elaine declared.

"You're insane!" Jacob slammed his chopsticks down. "I've invited the president and board members to The Heaven Springs! If you make me lose face, I'll never forgive you!"

"Fine! Let's see who's afraid!" Elaine insisted, desperate for the ten thousand for her beauty treatments. Her friends were waiting.

Chapter 648

Claire Wilson intervened. "Mom, stop making things difficult for Dad. He doesn't usually spend much. Why are you confronting him about dinner?"

Elaine insisted she was saving money. "Twenty thousand for a meal? No way!" She glared at Jacob. "You'll give me the money, whether you like it or not!"

Claire knew her mother's materialistic nature. If Jacob refused, he wouldn't leave. "Mom, stop it. You want ten thousand? I'll give it to you."

"Okay! Transfer it now!" Elaine excitedly replied.

Claire transferred the money. Elaine grinned, checking her phone. She immediately texted her friends: "[Sisters! I'm joining you for the facial!]"

A friend questioned her earlier excuse. Elaine lied, claiming shopping plans changed due to leg pain.

Claire sighed, knowing her mother's desperation. She didn't know about the lost family savings.

Chapter 649

Charlie's phone rang – Jasmine. "Master Wade, I'll arrive in ten minutes. When are you ready?"

"I'll come down after breakfast and the dishes," Charlie responded.

Jasmine felt distressed. Such a capable man, still doing dishes! She imagined herself as his wife, never letting him do housework. A man should pursue his career and be pampered at home, not doing chores.

After hanging up, Claire asked, "Charlie Wade, is your friend here?"

"Yes, my friend's granddaughter is picking me up," he replied.

Claire said, "Go then. I'll do the dishes."

Charlie hesitated, but Claire insisted.

Chapter 650

Charlie agreed. "Alright, wife. Thank you." Claire then asked about his gift for his friend, cautioning against anything cheap.

Charlie smiled, saying he made a thoughtful gift himself. His friend valued the thought, not the price.

Charlie left. Elaine turned to Claire. "Why are you spoiling Charlie? He's useless! I was going to make him do more chores, but you're doing them instead!"

Claire replied, "Mom, he has plans. I can do the dishes."

Elaine retorted, "Treat a man like a dog! Strict discipline prevents bad behavior. Look at your father – obedient and submissive."

Jacob's face darkened, silently cursing Elaine.

Claire, sympathetic to her father, said, "Mom, I'll do the dishes, then I'll go out."

Claire, washing dishes, saw Charlie leaving. She saw a red Rolls-Royce Phantom and Jasmine emerging, stunningly dressed. Claire was surprised at Jasmine's respectful demeanor towards Charlie—opening the car door for him. She felt a pang of jealousy and wondered if Jasmine was interested in her husband. She dismissed it as absurd; Jasmine's wealth and status far surpassed Charlie's. But the question of Jasmine's respect lingered.

This cleaned-up version improves grammar, punctuation, paragraph structure, and flow. It also removes unnecessary repetition and clarifies the narrative. The frequent repetition of character names like "Claire Wilson Wilson" and "Charlie Wade" was reduced for better readability.
