Chapter 711
Mr. Jones, nearly incapacitated by pain and fear, looked desperately at Charlie Wade. He recalled the lives he'd taken and dreaded a similar fate. Mr. Jones, now a cripple requiring arm amputation, faced a life worse than death. Marcus realized that pretending to be ruthless was futile. Even if he'd killed Jacob Wilson, Charlie Wade could have easily saved him and then killed Marcus. Seeing his father's submission, Marcus also knelt, crying, "Master Wade, I'm sorry! Charlie Wade began the trial, accusing Mr. Lloyd and Marcus of attempting his murder. They begged for mercy, claiming they were forced. Charlie Wade spared their lives but warned, "Capital punishment avoided, but not life's consequences. Your survival depends on your actions."
