The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 796-800
Chapter 796
Christopher summoned his courage. "Mom," he said, "even if the court jails you, Harold, Wendy, and I have enough money to live comfortably. But if you don't retrieve those antiques, we'll starve!"
Lady Wilson scoffed. "Starve? You three have hands and feet. Even sweeping streets prevents starvation! Those antiques your father left are my money, so forget it!"
Christopher's anger flared. He stood, his voice cold. "Dad's things are for our children and grandchildren. Why should you have them all?"
Lady Wilson retorted, "Rebellious? Fine! Call me names. When I'm dead, you'll never find those antiquesโnothing!" She sneered. "I'm an old woman; my life's nearly over. Before I die, I'll donate my life insurance. You'll get nothing! You'll suffer. You'll be reduced to the bottom of society, your hard times will begin!"
Christopher tried to reason with her, but he was desperate. Lack of money and earning potential plagued him and his children. If Lady Wilson died and donated her life insurance, all hope would be lost. He suppressed his anger. "Mom, please, don't be like this."
Lady Wilson sneered, "This is me!"
Suddenly, several bank and court vehicles arrived at the Wilson villa. Law enforcement officers and bank managers rushed to the door and pounded.
Startled, Harold opened the door to a scene that stunned him. Numerous officers stormed in, securing the premises. A court official approached Lady Wilson. "Are you in charge of the Wilson Group?"
Before she could reply, he continued, "On behalf of the district court, we formally inform you that multiple creditors have filed an application to freeze the Wilson Group's assets and your personal accounts, forcing repayment."
Lady Wilson exclaimed, "I just repaid over a million! The bank manager promised a grace period! Why the change?"
The official replied coldly, "The bank deems you unprofitable and incapable of repayment. They, along with other creditors, initiated asset seizure. You have one hour to collect personal belongings. This property will be sealed."
"What?!" Lady Wilson trembled. "Seize all my assets? Why?!"
The official said, "For non-payment of debts. You may take only clothing, toiletries, and ordinary furniture. Cash, luxury goods, and valuables must remain."
Chapter 797
Lady Wilson's face paled. Her crutch fell. She'd thought she had time, but the end came swiftly. Christopher and his children also blanched.
"Mom? Our house is being sealed? We already paid over a million!"
The Wilson family's financial state meant homelessness and a bleak future. Not only would Christopher and the children need to work, but Lady Wilson might have to wash dishes to survive.
Lady Wilson sat on the floor. "You're destroying our family! I just paid, and you're taking my house!"
The official stated, "We're acting legally. Creditors have the right to freeze assets for non-payment. If you repay your debts, the villa and accounts will be unblocked. Failure to repay within three months will result in a lawsuit and potential fraud charges."
Lady Wilson clung to his legs. "You can't seal my villa! I've lived here for twenty years!"
Ignoring her pleas, the official instructed his staff, "Take her out to calm down."
They removed Lady Wilson, who cried hysterically. Christopher and the others were also escorted out. Christopher was desperate; defying the court was futile. Their debts were undeniable.
Harold broke down. "Dad, where will we live?"
Wendy sobbed, "We're already poor; without the villa, I might as well die."
Lady Wilson cursed, "That bank! They're leaving us no way to survive!"
Christopher shouted, "Mom! Where are your antiques?! If they're found, we're finished!"
Lady Wilson's eyes darkened; Christopher steadied her. "They're hidden under the basement floor. They probably won't find them"
Chapter 798
Christopher rubbed his temples. "If they're discovered, it's all over."
A young officer entered, carrying a metal detector.
Christopher asked, "A mine detector?"
The officer smiled. "No, but the principle's similar. It detects underground metal. Its sensitivity is lower, though."
Christopher groaned. "Sealing houses is one thing, but mine detection?"
The officer explained, "In our seizure experience, villas often have hidden compartments in basements containing valuables. My job is to find them and seize them legally."
Lady Wilson collapsed. Christopher's heart sank. The officer investigated. Christopher helped Lady Wilson up. "Mom, what's in Dad's antiques?"
Lady Wilson nervously listed two vases, an ancient painting, and other antiques.
Christopher pressed, "Any metal objects?"
"Yes," she panicked, "a Ming Dynasty bronze lamp, tinware, and two gold horseshoes"
Christopher slapped his thigh. "It's over! Everything's over! You hid them in the basement! They'll find everything!" He angrily rebuked her for her greed and refusal to sell the antiques.
Lady Wilson insisted, "They can't find them! I hid them well!"
The officer emerged. "We found a secret compartment containing antiques and precious metals"
Lady Wilson collapsed. The officer continued, "Since the villa is in your name, these items are considered yours. They'll be auctioned to repay your debts. Any surplus will be refunded; any shortfall will result in further legal action."
He presented a form. "Please sign if you understand."
"I won't sign!" Lady Wilson screamed. "You can't seize my antiques! They're my 'coffin books'!"
The officer stated, "They're legally sealed, regardless of your signature." He left. Lady Wilson fainted.
Chapter 799
Christopher shook Lady Wilson awake. "Didn't you say no one could find them? Now they're gone! How will we live?!"
Lady Wilson wept. "I didn't know! If I had, I wouldn't have hidden themIt's over! My life's work is ruined!"
Harold despaired. "We have nothingโnot even dinner! Where will we sleep?"
Wendy cried, "Will we be homeless? I don't want that!"
Staff began removing items. Lady Wilson wailed as her antiques were confiscated, repeatedly trying to stop them.
Christopher raged, blaming Lady Wilson's selfishness. All valuables were removed; only worthless belongings remained. The villa was sealed.
The officer informed them, "We're sealing the gate. Please leave; you're prohibited from entering."
"I won't go! This is my home!" Lady Wilson cried.
The officer warned, "It's sealed. Remaining here is obstructing justice! We can detain you!"
Christopher and the others left to avoid arrest. Lady Wilson, alone and unsupported, could only leave. The gate was sealed. The officer reiterated the three-month deadline for repayment.
Chapter 800
Lady Wilson realized her situation: homelessness now, and potential imprisonment later. She sobbed uncontrollably.
After the court's departure, the Wilson family sat among their meager possessions, weeping. Their misfortunes continued.
Villa security guards approached. "Please remove your belongings and leave. You're affecting the appearance of our villa area."
Christopher angrily protested, "I've lived here for twenty years! You want to evict me?!"
The guard stated coldly, "You're no longer residents. Our community is closed; outsiders are not permitted. Please leave your belongings; otherwise, we'll consider them abandoned."
Christopher threatened violence. The guards pushed him back. Harold threatened to complain; the guards scoffed.
Christopher sighed, realizing the futility of resistance. He instructed his family to gather their most valuable remaining possessions.
Wendy cried, "Dad, where will we go?"
Christopher didn't know. Harold suggested asking his uncle Jacob Wilson and his wife Elaine Ma for help, mentioning their ten-bedroom villa.
Christopher scoffed, knowing his uncle and aunt would never help. Lady Wilson, unexpectedly, spoke. "We'll go to Thompson First! If Jacob and Elaine don't take us in, I'll sue them for elder neglect!"
