The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 801-805
Chapter 801
Elaine Ma reclined on a deck chair on the second-floor, all-glass balcony of Thompson First Villa, glued to her phone. Over 300 people had liked her latest post, a new WeChat record. The comments were too numerous to read, let alone reply to. Elaine finally understood the meaning of "attention." Her friends were showering her with praise.
Then, a message popped up in her group chat from one of her closest friends: “Oh my gosh, Sister Elaine Ma moved into the luxurious Thompson First Villa today! We have to celebrate with dinner!”
Many others echoed: “Sister Elaine Ma, you’re moving into a mansion worth over $100 million! Such a joyous occasion deserves a celebratory dinner!” Soon, the entire group was clamoring for an invitation.
Despite the flattering messages, Elaine felt a pang of anxiety. A celebratory dinner? How could she afford it? While living in a $100 million mansion, she didn't even have a thousand dollars to her name.
Someone suggested: “Sister Elaine Ma deserves Shangri-La!”
Another chimed in: “If Sister Elaine Ma is treating us to dinner, I'll take everyone to a high-end spa afterward!” The suggestions poured in: a night of karaoke, foot massages, and a late-night bar.
The initial suggestion-maker turned to Elaine: “Sister Elaine Ma, everyone’s waiting for your decision!”
Elaine longed to celebrate with her friends; she was feeling incredibly stressed lately. However, the thought of footing the bill for everyone was daunting. She excused herself: “Oh, sisters, I’m so sorry. I just moved in and still have so much to unpack. I won't have time!”
“Oh,” someone replied. “Sister Elaine Ma, you can clean up later! Today’s your housewarming. You can't miss this auspicious occasion!”
Elaine was thrilled, but the financial burden loomed large. Jacob Wilson had already returned all their remaining money to Charlie Wade. She needed to ask Charlie for the tens of thousands of dollars she needed.
She told her friends, “Wait, I'll confirm with my family and get back to you later.”
“Give us a definite answer before 3 PM,” the eldest sister replied. “We need to make arrangements.”
“Okay,” Elaine hastily agreed, immediately jumping up to find Charlie Wade. Downstairs, Charlie was cooking.
Chapter 802
Moving into a new house meant a lengthy clean-up, resulting in a later-than-usual dinner. However, Charlie Wade's meal preparation was far from a chore. Claire and Loreen, two beautiful women, were assisting him, transforming the task into enjoyable company.
As the meal was being served, Elaine descended from the elevator. She intended to ask Charlie for money, but hesitated upon seeing everyone at the dining table. It felt inappropriate to ask for money in front of her husband and daughter.
Then, the doorbell rang. "Someone's visiting already?" she exclaimed, heading towards the entrance.
To her surprise, she found Mrs. Wilson, along with Christopher, Harold, and Wendy, standing at the door, their bags suggesting they were fleeing their old home. Elaine, unaware of their eviction, frowned. "Why are you here again?"
Ignoring Elaine, Mrs. Wilson attempted to barge inside. Elaine blocked her path: “What do you think you're doing? Are you trying to break in? I'll call the police!”
Mrs. Wilson shoved Elaine aside and entered, the aroma of the food catching her attention. She sniffed the air, clearly impressed by the tantalizing scent. This was a stark contrast to the meager lunch she'd had after a harrowing court experience. Her stomach rumbled loudly.
Elaine scoffed, "So, you're here to beg for food… How the mighty have fallen!"
Mrs. Wilson's face flushed. She wanted to retort but, needing to maintain a façade of normalcy in her bid to stay in Thompson First, she swallowed her pride. "My dear daughter-in-law, I’m famished. Please, let me eat."
Elaine sneered, "Keep dreaming! I'll give you ten seconds to leave, or I'll call the police!"
Mrs. Wilson, unable to reason with Elaine, loudly called out, "Jacob Wilson! Do you have the heart to let your mother starve?"
Jacob emerged, looking troubled. "Mom, you received $1.21 million yesterday. What's going on?"
Mrs. Wilson dramatically collapsed to the floor, wailing, "Son, the bank seized our villa! We have nowhere to go!" She tearfully pleaded, "Please, don't let your mother starve or freeze to death!"
Jacob was shocked. "What? How could the villa be seized?"
"Because of the Wilson Group's debts!" Mrs. Wilson sobbed. "Son, please, your villa is so large, make room for your mother, Wendy, and Harold."
Chapter 803
Seeing Mrs. Wilson about to kneel, Jacob panicked, trying to prevent her. But she was determined, believing this was her only recourse to securing shelter.
Jacob shared Elaine's firm stance: under no circumstances would they allow Mrs. Wilson to live with them. He held his mother, saying coldly, “Mom, stop this charade. You will not live in this villa!”
Mrs. Wilson lamented, "Jacob Wilson, do you have any conscience? You wouldn't even let your mother stay in this magnificent villa?"
Jacob remained resolute, "Mom, I will not allow it!"
Elaine added, “Leave before I call the police!”
Mrs. Wilson's face hardened. "Jacob Wilson is my son! He's obligated to support me! I'm staying here. If you evict me, I'll sue!”
Elaine pointed at her, cursing, "Old hag! I dare you to try!" She lunged forward, but Christopher intervened, recording the incident on his phone. Harold and Wendy also shielded Mrs. Wilson, stating their legal right to support their grandmother.
Jacob was flustered. He was unsure of the legal implications, but it seemed he was in the wrong. Elaine panicked, fearing the disruption to her new life. Just as the situation escalated, Charlie Wade intervened, "It's my father-in-law's duty to support his mother, but this villa is mine. I'm not obligated."
Jacob breathed a sigh of relief. "You heard him; the villa belongs to my son-in-law. I have no say."
Mrs. Wilson glared at Charlie Wade. "You've lived off my family for years; you should support me! I'm staying here!"
Charlie Wade replied calmly, "I'm not legally obligated. Please leave."
Mrs. Wilson scoffed. "I'll die here if I have to!"
Chapter 804
Charlie Wade decided to take a firmer approach. “Since you’re homeless, I'll arrange accommodations for you—food and shelter, free of charge.”
"Don't play games with me!" Mrs. Wilson scoffed. "You expect me to live in that old shack? Absolutely not! I'm staying in Thompson First!”
Charlie Wade sneered. "The old house was bought with money, it’s not free." He contacted Cameron Isaac: "The Wilsons are causing trouble at Thompson First. Get them into detention for two weeks." Isaac promptly replied, "Understood."
Elaine was furious and wanted to physically remove Mrs. Wilson. In a fit of rage, Mrs. Wilson called the police, falsely claiming abuse.
Charlie Wade, having just sent his message, smiled. "Let the police decide."
Elaine was worried the police would force Jacob to support the elderly, urging Charlie to throw them out. Mrs. Wilson threatened to stay put unless a room was provided. Christopher added that he, too, needed support and a place to stay.
Charlie Wade simply replied, "Let's wait for the police."
Chapter 805
A team of police officers arrived. Elaine countered Mrs. Wilson's claims, stating that her husband had been kicked out by his mother and disowned.
The officer questioned Mrs. Wilson's account. Jacob angrily recounted his mother's actions, leading to their current situation. The officer asked who owned the villa; Charlie claimed ownership. After clarifying the family relationships, the officer told Mrs. Wilson that breaking into someone's home was against the law. She refused to accept this, maintaining she had a right to be there. Christopher, Harold, and Wendy also refused to leave.
Elaine Ma was furious at their audacity. Mrs. Wilson threatened to die at their doorstep and haunt them, a dramatic declaration mirroring Elaine's own past confrontations.
The officer, after assessing the situation, ordered Mrs. Wilson, Christopher, Harold and Wendy’s arrest for trespassing and disturbing the peace. Mrs. Wilson protested her innocence. The officer explained she could sue for support, but couldn't trespass. The four were taken away.
