The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 986-990

Chapter 986

Jeff, more dazed than anyone, stared in disbelief. Two million dollars had actually arrived? Charlie Wade, the supposedly worthless son-in-law, where did he get so much money? Everyone present realized they had severely underestimated Charlie. Not only could he donate a million on a whim, but a friend, with no connection to the orphanage, donated another million! What kind of friend was this?

Charlie Wade stood, looked at the stunned Jeff, and said, "Jeff, everyone's phones are likely still recording. My million's arrived. When will your ten million arrive?"

Jeff was completely flustered. Ten million dollars was unthinkable; he could barely scrape together $100,000. More importantly, he had a massive debt to cover. Failure to do so could ruin him. He’d already lost face, and there was no recovering it.

With stubborn defiance, he said, "Charlie Wade, since you're so rich, let me manage your finances. I can double it in a week!"

Charlie Wade smiled. "Why? Aren't you donating ten million?"

Jeff stammered, "You're joking! I don't have that kind of money. Please forgive me."

Others scoffed. "Jeff, that's outrageous! Charlie and his friend each donated a million. You promised to donate as well. Even if you can't manage ten million, a million would be fair!"

Jeff's face burned, but the videos being recorded prevented any further pretense. He slapped himself repeatedly, admitting his guilt: "I'm sorry! I was bluffing; I don't have that much money!"

He felt his financial partnerships crumbling. He wouldn't be able to get the money for Caesar's Phaeton. He fled, muttering apologies as he ran out. His hasty escape only added to the disgust of those present. William sighed, "You should have stopped him, forced him to donate!"

Charlie Wade responded indifferently, "Then I'd become the villain. Let him go; the wicked will face their own consequences."

Harry, Jeff's former lackey, revealed a shocking detail: "Jeff hit someone else's Phaeton! He knelt and cried, then claimed the car was his!" This caused a stunned silence.

Chapter 987

Harry recounted Jeff's accident in detail, leaving everyone aghast at Jeff's audacity. William, however, missed this revelation as he chased Jeff out of the hotel. He followed Jeff to the parking lot, witnessing Jeff get into Caesar’s Phaeton.

William appeared at the car window with a sycophantic smile. Jeff, startled, lowered the window.

William flattered, "Brother Jeff, you were driving a Mercedes-Benz. Why are you now in a Volkswagen Phaeton? It's incredibly luxurious!"

Jeff lied, "I had a rear-end collision. The Mercedes is undrivable, so I got the Phaeton."

William, awestruck, knelt, "Brother Jeff, you're amazing! Compared to you, those orphans are truly embarrassed! You're incredible, unlike Charlie Wade, who foolishly gambled away a million!"

Jeff was surprised. He’d expected total humiliation, but William was still fawning over him. He’d found a lifeline.

Jeff asked, "Still need financial help?"

William eagerly nodded, "My marriage depends on you!"

Chapter 988

Jeff said, "Get in. Bring your ID. I’ll take you to your dorm; we'll apply for loans tomorrow."

William worked at a printing factory, earning barely over $3,000 a month, yet he'd saved over $100,000, highlighting his frugal lifestyle.

At William's dorm, William excitedly pulled out his ID and began applying for loans through various apps. He noticed the exorbitant interest rates—as high as 70% per week!

Worried, William asked, "Brother Jeff, the interest is too high. Isn't this worse than your financial plan?"

Jeff waved it off. "These are my friends' apps. I'll call them, and the interest will be waived. The high rates are just a front. Trust me."

William, desperate, blindly trusted Jeff and borrowed almost $500,000 from multiple loan apps. He transferred the total, plus his savings, $620,000, to Jeff.

Chapter 989

Jeff was ecstatic but still short. He told William to call his girlfriend, Juanita, and pitch a 20% weekly return investment opportunity to her mother.

William called Juanita, who responded with strange noises. William, concerned, asked what she was doing, hearing more noises, including the sounds of a creaking bed. Jeff was shocked – he suspected Juanita was having an affair.

Juanita, irritated by William's call, scoffed at the investment idea. William bragged about his wealthy friend and their expensive meal. Juanita dismissed his story and revealed she made more than him selling smuggled cigarettes. William felt slighted; Juanita accused him of looking down on her work and ended the call.

Chapter 990

Jeff, realizing Juanita was no pushover, decided against involving her. William then revealed how he met Juanita – initially seeking a job, he had asked her to provide cheaper smuggled cigarettes.

Jeff was perplexed. How were Chinese cigarettes being smuggled from China? William couldn’t explain it either, but he admitted the job didn’t materialize and had been scammed. He also mentioned that his relationship with Juanita hadn’t been consummated.

Jeff pointed out the obvious implications of the sounds Juanita made earlier. William, however, persisted in his innocent interpretation—waist exercises. He even planned to send her medicinal plasters. Jeff's exasperation reached its peak as he realized William's obliviousness. Jeff abruptly left, telling William he would handle the funds.
