The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1001-1005
Chapter 1001
Claire Wilson went to the bedroom bathroom to shower, while Charlie Wade used the guest bathroom on the same floor. The convenience of having multiple bathrooms in their villa eliminated any need to wait.
Charlie showered quickly, and by the time Claire emerged, he was already lying on the bed in a vest and shorts. She was surprised. “Why are you sleeping on the bed?”
Charlie smiled. “Wife, didn’t you say I’d be promoted if I completed my tasks? My mother’s MLM involvement delayed my promotion. Now that she’s back, you can’t stop my promotion, right?”
Claire blushed, unsure how to respond. She had promised him a bed once he'd achieved certain goals, but their intimacy felt sudden and unprepared. However, her feelings for Charlie had intensified recently. Witnessing his actions—defending Jeff, donating to the orphanage, helping a friend—had painted him as an omnipotent hero in her eyes. She felt a warmth, perhaps love.
Charlie, seeing her blush, felt his love deepen. She was a ray of sunshine in his life.
Claire, eyes red, shyly conceded, “You can be promoted one level, but only one!”
Charlie pressed for clarification. “What does ‘one level’ mean?”
“You can sleep on the bed,” Claire explained, “but it’s divided—you on the left, me on the right. No crossing the boundary without permission, or you'll be demoted.”
“Demoted?” Charlie asked, worried.
“Back to the floor,” Claire stated triumphantly. “Or the guest room. We have plenty of space.”
A tearful Charlie pleaded, “What’s the next level? How do I advance?”
Claire, her face flushed, teased, “That’s classified. You’ll be notified by your superior.” She patted her chest. “I’m your superior, and I have all the interpretive rights.”
Charlie mentioned Mrs. Lewis’s desire for grandchildren.
Claire vehemently protested, “Who’s having a baby with you? You can find someone else!”
Chapter 1002
Charlie pointed out their fertility and the absurdity of their childlessness.
Claire retorted, “Then I’ll tell people you’re infertile.” She added, “Besides, you're only on level two. Having a child is level three, or higher!”
“Level three!” Charlie exclaimed.
Claire scoffed, “Wishful thinking!” She tossed him a quilt. “One person, one quilt. No crossing the boundary! Hands, feet, body, hair—nothing! Cross the line, and you're demoted!”
Charlie sighed, “Fine, fine. I won't cross the line.”
Claire, shyly smiling, settled into her own quilt, blushing fiercely as she glanced at Charlie before turning away. He wanted to hug and kiss her, but respected her pace. Being on the same bed was a huge step. He would work hard for the next level.
Chapter 1003
Charlie nervously asked about the next level. A small teddy bear, Claire’s usual sleep companion, landed on his face. She whispered, “Greedy! Mobile game upgrades aren't this easy!”
Pretending to be customer service, she said, “Sorry, dear, we don’t offer that upgrade. Try another game.”
Charlie begged for a shortcut. She feigned refusal, but then offered a "hidden random treasure chest."
He chose to open it, receiving a demotion. He appealed, but was given another choice. He chose to refuse the chest, ultimately remaining at the same level.
Chapter 1004
Claire rated her customer service performance, with Charlie giving her a perfect score. That night, Charlie slept uneasily, despite the promotion. He dared not cross the boundary. Claire also suffered from insomnia, feeling nervous despite the physical distance. It was her first time sharing a bed with a man since childhood.
Chapter 1005
Charlie awoke to find Claire gone, showering. His phone rang—Lisa from the orphanage. Ten children were missing, possibly stolen. Charlie was furious.
Downstairs, Elaine demanded breakfast, prompting Charlie's curt refusal. Their roles had shifted drastically, which Elaine had noticed.
Jacob, seeing Charlie depart, offered a ride to the orphanage. Elaine furiously protested, but Jacob ignored her. In the car, Jacob asked Charlie for advice on divorcing Elaine. Charlie mentioned the two-year separation requirement.
