Chapter 1101

At 7:00 a.m., Claire Wilson woke up feeling refreshed. She had slept soundly through the night, waking not once. She felt full of energy. Claire wasn't surprised not to see Charlie Wade; he always rose earlier.

Knowing Charlie would take her picking today, Claire was in exceptionally high spirits, eagerly anticipating the outing. After washing, she changed into a sports suit and went downstairs. Expecting Charlie to be preparing breakfast, she was surprised to find him waiting in the living room.

Seeing Claire, Charlie greeted her warmly, "My wife, let's go picking!"

Claire exclaimed, "Already? We haven't had breakfast"

Charlie smiled, "We'll eat later. Come on!" He took her hand and led her out the door.

Claire, feeling her heart race, felt a mixture of surprise and embarrassment. "But what if we get hungry? We haven't eaten anything yet!"

Charlie chuckled, "You'll see. I've arranged everything."

Curious, Claire asked, "Did you arrange a farmhouse?"

Pulling her to the door, Charlie said, "Close your eyes."

Claire was taken aback. "Charlie, now? Isn't that too soon?"

"Not at all," he smiled. "You'll know soon enough."

Claire, smiling helplessly, closed her eyes and whispered, "Fine, for this picking trip, I'll trust you."

"Don't peek!" Charlie warned.

"Don't worry," Claire assured him. "I love surprises!"

"Good!" Charlie took her hand and led her outside to the yard. There, to the east, was over an acre of meticulously planted fruits and vegetables. These plants, carefully selected by Mr. White, were thriving, free of insects, and vibrantly colored. Early morning dew added to their beauty.

Charlie led Claire to the garden. "My wife, you can open your eyes now."

Claire was surprised. "Shouldn't we get in the car first?"

"Open your eyes first," Charlie said with a smile.

Claire smiled. "Okay, I'm opening them!"

As she opened her eyes, the rising sun cast a brilliant light, momentarily dazzling her. Then, her vision cleared, revealing a breathtaking vegetable and fruit garden.

She gasped, covering her mouth in astonishment.

Chapter 1102

Claire stared at Charlie, her face filled with shock and disbelief. "This I I'm not dreaming, Charlie! How how did we get this garden?"

Charlie gazed at her adoringly. "Silly wife, of course you're not dreaming. You love picking, right? Now you can do it every day. I found the best land in Aurous Hill. I'll take care of it, ensuring you have an abundance of produce year-round!"

Tears welled up in Claire's eyes. She never imagined such a grand surprise. As a child, she'd dreamed of a small vegetable patch; Mrs. Wilson had never allowed it. Now, her husband had given her this incredible gift. Charlie's loving promise deeply moved her.

This felt like receiving an entire ocean of flowers instead of a single bloom. It was like possessing the whole world. To Claire, these fruits and vegetables were more precious than the most beautiful roses, even more exciting than the lavish Shangri-La wedding Charlie had arranged.

Charlie handed her a small bamboo basket. "Wife, let's pick! Everything is organically grown, pesticide-free."

Overwhelmed, Claire threw herself into his arms. "My husband, thank you! I'm the happiest woman alive!"

Charlie caressed her cheek. "My wife, thank you for being with me. Your happiness is my happiness."

Suddenly, overcome by impulse, Charlie gently kissed Claire.

Claire felt a blank. This was her first kiss. She wasn't angry, however, only filled with an unprecedented sense of happiness. She was a happy woman in her husband's arms. Although happy, she was also shy, gently pushing him away. "I I'll go pick," she stammered.

Charlie hugged her. "My wife, I'll be with you!"

Blushing, Claire offered him the basket. "Then you carry the basket while I pick!"

"Okay!" Charlie readily agreed, taking her hand into the garden.

Meanwhile, on the third-floor terrace, Elaine Ma muttered, "So much sickeningly sweet PDA this early! Doesn't she know I'm missing a front tooth?" Then, she yelled, "Hurry up, you two! I need photos for my Moments!"

Chapter 1103

Claire felt like the happiest woman alive. Hannah, however, felt utterly miserable. At the gynecology department, her check-up shocked even the doctor. "What happened to you? Why is it like this? Don't you pay attention to hygiene?"

Mortified, Hannah mumbled, "I I don't like cleaning"

The doctor scolded, "You need to improve your hygiene! This is serious!"

Panicked, Hannah asked, "What's wrong with me?"

The doctor grimly replied, "Erythema, infection, erosion. You have more than one problem. I'll give you forms for blood and secretion tests."

Fearful, Hannah asked, "Do I have AIDS?"

The doctor responded, "AIDS isn't visible; blood tests will confirm." She urged Hannah to get tested immediately.

After the tests, Hannah anxiously waited for the results. The secretion test revealed severe erosion and inflammation. She rushed back to the doctor, who wasn't surprised. "Inflammation and erosion are visible, but I didn't expect it to be this severe. You need immediate treatment!" The doctor awaited the blood test results.

Twenty minutes later, four reports arrived. The first showed a positive test for Neisseria gonorrhoeae (gonorrhea). Hannah was horrified; the supervisor had given her gonorrhea! The second report showed a positive test for Treponema pallidum (syphilis).

Chapter 1104

Hannah felt faint. Gonorrhea and syphilis? The supervisor was a menace! She trembled as she opened the third report: HIV antibody, 0.11 (negative). Relief washed over her. She cautiously opened the final report: Human chorionic gonadotropin: 5324.2, indicating a 4-8 week pregnancy. The timing coincided with her time in the black coal mine.

Hannah felt like she wanted to die. She'd escaped the mine, only to discover multiple STDs and a pregnancy at age 51! How would she face her family?

She rushed back to the doctor, locked the door, and knelt, begging for help. The doctor exclaimed, "Is it HIV?"

Hannah shook her head. "HIV is negative, but I have gonorrhea, syphilis, and I'm pregnant"

The doctor sighed. "Gonorrhea and syphilis are treatable. As for the pregnancy, it's not unheard of for women your age. However, I don't recommend keeping the baby. Syphilis can be passed to the child. I suggest an abortion and treatment for the STDs."

Chapter 1105

Hannah's priority was to terminate the pregnancy. She asked about the earliest abortion appointment; the doctor said next Monday. Panicked, Hannah offered to pay extra, but the doctor explained that surgeries weren't performed on weekends.

Hannah accepted the delay. The doctor prescribed oral and topical medications for immediate relief. The doctor also advised Hannah's husband to get checked as well, since these STDs are sexually transmitted.

Hannah knew the supervisor was responsible, but she and her husband had unprotected sex recently. The doctor's words worried her that her husband might also be infected. She hoped to treat her illness before her husband found out, ensuring she wouldn't be blamed.

Hannah asked the doctor how long treatment would take. The doctor estimated at least two months, though recovery times vary. Hannah scheduled the abortion for Monday afternoon and then received a call from her husband, asking where she was. Hannah quickly said she was on her way home.
