The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1256-1260

Chapter 1256

“What the hell?!” Jon’s mother exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief. One hundred million dollars—the sheer magnitude of the sum stunned her. Even a million was unimaginable wealth; ten million made one untouchable; a hundred million was practically godlike. And this wasn't just money; it was the value of two cars!

Hurriedly, she asked, “Is this true? Are those two cars really worth that much?”

Jon nodded vigorously, pulling his mother as he spoke. “Mom, would I lie? I want a house too, but we can’t push our luck. Offending someone like that… our family would be ruined!”

His mother trembled, leaping to her feet and pulling her husband. Jon whispered the news to his still-uncomprehending father, whose face drained of color.

Fear and respect etched on his face, Jon pleaded with Charlie Wade, “Brother, I’m sorry. Please forget this ever happened…”

Charlie Wade, cold and dismissive, responded, “Fine. I don't want to see you again. Get out, and stay gone, or face the consequences!”

Jon quickly flattered, “Don’t worry, Big Brother, we’re leaving, we’re leaving!”

Ignoring them, Charlie Wade climbed into his Bugatti Veyron, started the engine, and drove off. A WeChat message arrived from Claire Wilson: “Husband, do you know anyone who makes wedding dresses? I want Isabella to rent a nicer one; hers is too old.”

Charlie Wade swiftly replied, “Count on me.”

Claire Wilson sent another message: “She’s about my height, just a little thinner. Help me figure out the size. Thanks, Husband!”

Charlie Wade responded, “Wife, no need for formalities with me.”

Later, while driving, he called Jasmine. He reasoned that while powerful figures like Don Albertt or Cameron Isaac might not be knowledgeable about wedding dresses, Jasmine certainly would be.

Jasmine, overjoyed by the unexpected call—especially since their last meeting—quickly answered, “Master Wade, what can I do for you?”

Charlie Wade asked, “Jasmine, who has the best wedding dresses in Aurouss Hill?”

“Wedding dress?!” Jasmine exclaimed. “Master Wade, what’s this for?”

Charlie Wade explained, “My wife’s high school classmate is getting married today but lacks a decent dress. Can you help?”

Jasmine smiled. “Of course! It’s an honor to work for you, Master Wade!” She added, “The only Vera Wang bridal shop in the province is mine. We have many top designs. What size is your wife’s classmate? I’ll prepare a fitting one.”

Chapter 1257

Vera Wang is the world’s most famous Chinese wedding dress designer. Even Bill Clinton’s daughter wore her designs. Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, and the granddaughter of the Macau gambling king all wore Vera Wang gowns.

Her international influence meant she only had stores in major cities. Aurouss Hill was an exception, thanks to her close friendship with Jasmine, a fan of her designs, who had invested in the shop.

Vera Wang dresses typically cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Most people could only dream of owning one.

Charlie Wade knew Claire was at Isabella’s. Seeing her treated unfairly, he wanted to help. When Jasmine offered a Vera Wang dress, he readily agreed, but added, “Jasmine, it’s just my wife’s classmate. Don’t overspend; a rental gown will suffice.”

Jasmine insisted, “Master Wade, it’s a wedding gift for your wife’s classmate.”

Charlie Wade countered, “No, Jasmine, that changes things. The ancients said, ‘Give enough to be kind; give too much, and it becomes resentment.’ My wife just wants a beautiful dress; borrowing for a day is enough.”

His years of navigating the lower strata had taught him the importance of balance in helping others. Offering too much could backfire. He gave the example of lending a friend $20,000—providing more than needed could create more problems than it solved.

Jasmine understood, replying, “Master Wade, I’ll prepare a rental dress.”

“Good,” Charlie Wade said. “I’m going to the hotel. If you’re ready, I’ll bring them to your shop.”

“No problem!” Jasmine responded, sending him the shop’s address.

He navigated to the shop, leaving his wife and Isabella behind. As they entered the city, Isabella noticed the unfamiliar route. “Claire, are we going the wrong way? The Hilton is not this way.”

Claire smiled. “It’s fine. We’re faster this way.” Isabella, trusting Claire, held her tongue.

Chapter 1258

Charlie Wade drove directly to Jasmine's bridal shop. Even Claire was surprised. She'd merely asked for a nicer rental, not a visit to a Vera Wang flagship store! Claire herself couldn't have dreamed of wearing such a gown.

Charlie Wade exited the car, and Jasmine, elegant and sophisticated, emerged from the shop. Claire recognized her from a past studio opening, recalling feeling intimidated by her wealth.

This time, Claire felt a wave of apprehension, wanting to avoid Jasmine, but knowing she had to help Isabella.

Jasmine greeted Charlie Wade warmly, “Master Wade, you've arrived.”

“Why are you here?” Charlie Wade asked.

Jasmine smiled. “Master Wade, you need a wedding dress; naturally, I'm here to assist.” Seeing Claire emerge from the Aston Martin, a flicker of envy crossed her face. “Madam Wade is here too.”

Charlie Wade nodded. Isabella exited the car, prompting Charlie to say, “This is my wife’s classmate. Please prepare a dress for her quickly; we have to go after the fitting.”

Jasmine quickly addressed them, “Mrs. Wade, Miss Stark, please come in to try the dress.”

Seeing the Vera Wang logo, Isabella exclaimed, “Claire, what’s going on?”

Claire, feigning composure, replied, “I asked Charlie to help borrow a dress.” To Jasmine, she added, somewhat awkwardly, “Miss Moore, I didn’t expect you to be here. I don’t want to trouble you.”

Jasmine smiled serenely. “Mrs. Wade, you're too kind. You and Master Wade are esteemed guests. I will assist you.” She gestured for them to enter: “Please come in!”

Chapter 1259

Claire and Isabella felt nervous. They knew Vera Wang dresses were outrageously expensive. Even in ordinary shops, high-end rentals cost tens of thousands of dollars a day; a Vera Wang could cost six figures or more! Isabella felt unworthy, fearful of damaging such a dress.

Claire didn't want Charlie to incur excessive debts of gratitude.

Seeing their hesitation, Charlie smiled. “What are you waiting for? We’re running late.”

Claire, realizing the lateness of the hour, had no choice. If Isabella didn't choose a new dress, she would have to wear her old, cheap, damaged rental. On the way, Claire had learned it cost $300 a day.

Taking Isabella’s hand, Claire said, “Isabella, let’s go. Let Miss Moore help you choose a dress.”

Isabella hesitated. “Claire, these dresses are too expensive…”

Claire urged, “Then you’ll wear that old one. Your in-laws will say something. Charlie borrowed such an expensive car. If we’re doing things in style, let’s do it properly!”

Turning to Jasmine, she thanked her, asking for help choosing a fitting dress for Isabella.

Jasmine smiled, “Mrs. Wade, it’s my pleasure.”

Chapter 1260

Claire and Isabella, awestruck by the luxurious gowns, were immediately captivated. Jasmine, acting as a sales associate, led them to a selection of rental gowns. “Mrs. Wade, Miss Stark, you may choose any of these.”

Claire inquired about sizing for Isabella’s slim build. Jasmine reassured her that the dresses were cleverly designed to fit most figures. She offered assistance from bridal assistants.

Isabella, overwhelmed by the choices, looked to Claire for guidance. Claire chose a beautiful tube-top gown, “This is perfect; elegant and shows the collarbone.”

Isabella, uncertain, agreed. Jasmine concurred, noting its popularity and suitability.

Moments later, Isabella emerged, transformed in the elegant gown. Claire exclaimed, “Isabella, you’re beautiful!”

Isabella, shy and nervous about damaging the dress, felt overwhelmed.

Jasmine reassured her, “Ms. Stark, don't worry. Our dresses are insured. You can wear it with confidence.”

Seeing the time constraints, Charlie urged them to leave. Claire thanked Jasmine profusely.

Isabella was stunned upon hearing Jasmine's name. The Miss Moore, of the Moore family, the most powerful family in Aurouss Hill, was being so gracious? How had her high school classmate, Claire, become so influential?

Charlie also thanked Jasmine, who, recalling their earlier encounter, blushed slightly. Claire, noticing this, felt a pang of concern. Why was Jasmine acting shy around her husband? This went beyond a simple friendly gesture.
