The Amazing Son-in-Law: Chapters 1261-1265
Chapter 1261
Claire Wilson felt a pang of jealousy. Jasmine's admiring gaze toward Charlie Wade suggested a strong connection Claire felt she lacked with her own husband. This realization highlighted a distance between her and Charlie, a vulnerability that could be exploited by a third party. In contrast, a truly close relationship would leave no room for outside interference. This thought sparked a powerful impulse within her.
Charlie, noticing her distraction, urged, "My wife, we have to go; we'll be late."
Claire, startled back to reality, nodded awkwardly and hurried, "Then let's go quickly!"
Jasmine saw them off, reluctantly returning to her shop only after they'd driven away. Charlie then sped toward the Hilton Hotel in his limited-edition Bugatti Veyron.
Inside the Hilton's banquet hall, a formally dressed Steve anxiously checked the time. His mother, beside him, fumed, "Magnificent, that Isabella is uncouth! What time is it? She's clearly showing us no respect!"
Steve quickly explained, "Mom, Isabella's family lives in Levy County, tens of kilometers away! I offered to pick her up, but she wouldn't let me. My phone was confiscated, and she doesn't have a car. I can't contact her. Please, just give me back my phone!"
His mother snapped, "Contact her? We've always been treated this way by people like them. If we let this slide, where's our family's dignity?" She scoffed, "I told you not to marry beneath you, but you never listen. She's uneducated and poor. Are you trying to drive me crazy?"
Steve's face fell, but he dared not openly defy his domineering mother. She even controlled his father.
She continued, "Steve, our relatives are all here, waiting to meet your bride. If Isabella Stark isn't here by 9:30, I'll be humiliated. Then, forget about this marriage! Tell her to abort the child, or I'll give her $200,000 to raise the baby outside our family!"
Steve pleaded, "Mom, she's almost here! Why make trouble?"
His mother sneered, "If she dares to show up, I'll make her life miserable!"
Chapter 1262
Steve's father added, "Steve, you should listen to us. Our family isn't obscenely wealthy, but we're worth tens of millions. We deserve a better match. If you'd listened, you could have found someone richer, strengthening our family's position." He sighed, "You chose someone so poor; it's a joke to our friends and relatives!"
Steve's heart ached. He and Isabella, college sweethearts, had a strong and loving relationship envied by many. He dreamed of a blessed marriage, but his parents constantly blocked him.
Isabella, while not wealthy, was a wonderful woman. But his parents saw only her lack of money and power, refusing to change their minds despite his pleas. Even Isabella's pregnancy didn't soften them, causing Steve profound pain. He considered eloping after the ceremony.
With less than five minutes until the 9:30 deadline, Isabella was still absent. He feared her parents had intervened.
Steve's mother whispered to her husband, "The Starks won't let Isabella marry. We didn't offer them any money, insulting them. They'll never let her go. This whole thing's a charade to get Steve to give up."
His father groaned, "This 'charade' cost us four to five million dollars—the venue, the wedding"
His mother retorted, "Four or five million? If my son leaves that woman, I'd happily spend ten million!" She then excitedly added, "Sister Lisa said Mr. Ward's daughter recently returned to China, breaking up with her foreign boyfriend. Mr. Ward's wife wants to find someone for her in Aurouss Hill. If our son marries her, it would be a huge boost for us!"
His father frowned, "I heard her boyfriend was Black"
His mother interrupted, "It doesn't matter! Marrying into the Ward family means better business! Making money is key!"
Chapter 1263
Steve anxiously awaited Isabella, fearing her parents' disapproval. Suddenly, the roar of a supercar engine filled the air.
Guests gasped, "A Bugatti Veyron!"
Steve's cousin, Gary, exclaimed, "It's a Hermes limited edition! There's only one in the country! I saw it at the Aurouss Hill International Auto Show. A mysterious rich man bought it and an Aston Martin One-77, but they've never been seen since. Incredible!" He frantically photographed the car.
Then, another shout, "An Aston Martin One-77! Two top sports cars! Over a hundred million dollars combined!"
Gary was awestruck. Steve, however, was preoccupied with Isabella's absence.
Charlie Wade, driving the Bugatti, arrived at the Hilton, heading toward the banquet hall.
The guests were amazed. Only Steve's wedding was scheduled that day. Steve's parents had chosen the date to spite the Starks. Their plan: first, get the Starks to call off the wedding; second, if they didn't, the Carsons would prevent the marriage; third, as a last resort, they'd create a public scene (tears, tantrums, threats of suicide) to sabotage the wedding.
Steve's father asked, "Gary, did you say those cars are worth 100 million?"
Gary replied, "No, Josh did. But it's true—and they both belong to the same person."
Steve's father cursed, "Incredible! I hesitate over a 7-series BMW, and someone has two cars worth over 100 million! Is it the Moores?"
Gary shook his head, "The owner's identity is very mysterious. This is probably their first time driving them."
Chapter 1264
Were the cars really for the wedding? The Carsons knew they weren't wealthy enough to have such friends.
As the cars approached, Charlie Wade stepped out of the Bugatti. The crowd was stunned by his youthfulness and the luxury car. Claire Wilson followed, exiting the Aston Martin.
Initially, the Carsons couldn't place the bride emerging from the car. Then, Steve recognized Isabella.
Stunned silence followed. The Carsons knew Isabella's family were poor, living hand-to-mouth in a dilapidated house outside of the city. They were aware that the Starks planned to use the wedding gifts to secure a down payment for a new house.
But here she was, arriving in a limited edition Aston Martin One-77!
Chapter 1265
Claire Wilson also stepped out, greeting Steve politely, "Steve, congratulations to you and Isabella!"
Steve was astonished. Claire was Isabella's close friend, and he knew of her seemingly struggling family business—the Wilson Group, rumored to be near bankruptcy. How could she be driving an Aston Martin One-77?
Charlie Wade interjected, "We bought these cars at the Aurouss Hill International Auto Show. We've kept a low profile until now."
The guests gasped, realizing the mystery was solved. News of the car purchases had previously shocked Aurouss Hill, particularly the incident involving Jason Grant, who’d been publicly humiliated by security for touching them.
Steve was amazed, "I've heard about those cars, but never seen them driven! It's an honor you're at my wedding!"
Charlie responded coolly, "I'm not doing this for you; it's for Isabella."
The Carsons were speechless. Isabella, from such a poor family, knew this unbelievably wealthy man—the owner of two cars worth over 100 million!
Steve's father immediately fawned, "Sir, I'm Steve's father. It's an honor you're here. May I ask your name?"
