Chapter 1401

On the way home, Charlie Wade drove, and Claire Wilson sat in the passenger seat, still excited. Her circle of friends had exploded that day; countless people liked and commented, envious of her luck in having dinner with the popular actress Stefanie Sun.

Claire kept fiddling with her phone, her excitement evident. After replying to several friends, she looked at Charlie with admiration and exclaimed, "Husband, I only realized today how amazing you are! I never expected that even a big star like Stefanie Sun would appreciate your feng shui expertise. Are you really skilled, or just fooling around?"

Charlie smiled. "I never said feng shui was a sham, but you, Dad, and Mom always think I am. Feng shui is the essence of ancestral wisdom; there are patterns to follow."

Claire nodded seriously. "I know feng shui is ancestral wisdom, and I believe in it. I just didn't believe you could practice feng shui."

Charlie pressed her. "Why not?"

Claire replied, "Because I know you! You grew up in an orphanage—they don't teach feng shui. After leaving, you worked construction, then my grandfather arranged our marriage. You've been doing housework; I never saw you learn feng shui."

Charlie smiled. "Feng shui is like research. While you worked, I studied it in my free time. The more you know, the more you'll understand."

In truth, Charlie hadn't known much about feng shui before obtaining the Apocalyptic Book. He'd only learned some Wing Chun as a child; after all, the Wade family had a martial arts legacy. His current medical skills, alchemy, geomantic and metaphysical abilities all came from the Apocalyptic Book—his life's biggest secret. He couldn't tell Claire, and might never tell anyone else.

His second biggest secret was his identity as the Wade family head. However, this was difficult to hide completely; the Wade family and its subordinates knew him. His wife and others in Aurous Hill, however, did not.

Upon returning home, Claire was still busy with social media, entering the villa with her head down. Charlie parked and, just as he was about to get out, received a WeChat voice message from Stefanie.

Stefanie: "Charlie Wade, my stomach is upset. Can I take some Nova Dias?"

Charlie replied: "Daisy, if you need something for your stomach, I'll have Liam send some. Ten boxes enough?"

Charlie had been reluctant to distribute Nova Dias before due to previous leaks. For Stefanie, however, he made an exception.

Stefanie: "Charlie Wade, shouldn't you deliver the medicine personally? I've been searching for you for years! This is disappointing!"

Charlie: "Daisy, is that emotional blackmail? You need Nova Dias; that's what matters."

Stefanie angrily: "Who says I only need Nova Dias? I need my fiancé, reunited after all these years! My stomach hurts! If you don't care, I'll tell my father, and if that doesn't work, I'll tell your wife!"

Chapter 1402

Charlie: "Daisy, my relationship with your sister-in-law is stable; you can't interfere!"

Stefanie: "Interfere? We were betrothed when I was four or five! You and your wife have only been married three or four years! You disappeared for years, yet I never forgot you! That marriage contract, made in chaos and abandoned, still stands! For years, I've told myself I had a fiancé and would find him. Now that I have, you call me a third party?!"

Stefanie's anger grew. Dinner with Claire and Mrs. Wade had already depressed her; now Charlie was calling her the third party.

Crying, she said, "Charlie Wade! When you're in Eastcliff, you'll see my diaries from the last ten years! Start from the day you disappeared and read them. If you're not in a single entry, I'll consider myself the loser! You big pig, you hurt me! After all these years, you treat me like this? Do you have a conscience?!"

Charlie felt awful. Everyone respected him, but this girl called him a pig! He couldn't be angry; he felt guilty. He was merciless to enemies, but grateful to those who were kind to him, including Stefanie.

Hearing her cry, Charlie hurried to apologize.

Stefanie: "Then what about my stomach ache?!"

Charlie: "Wait; I'll deliver the medicine personally!"

Stefanie: "Do you have Nova Dias ready?"

Charlie: "No, but I can get some from the factory and deliver it to the hotel. Satisfied now?"

Stefanie: "Forget it, it's late. Have someone send it. Although I'm angry, I still love you."

Charlie realized Nova Dias only relieved symptoms; it didn't cure the root cause. He needed to treat the underlying issue.

"Wait for me at the hotel; I'll give you proper treatment."

Chapter 1403

Charlie couldn't tell Claire about seeing Stefanie, so he told her Liam needed help. Claire didn't suspect anything, simply asking him not to stay out too late.

Charlie drove back to the Shangri-La Hotel. Stefanie waited nervously in her luxurious suite, the hotel's presidential suite—the same one Donald and Sean had occupied.

When Charlie rang the doorbell, Stefanie, in a satin nightdress, opened the door.

Stefanie: "Oh, you're willing to leave your wife for your childhood sweetheart?"

Charlie chuckled. "Your stomach is upset; I'll check it."

Stefanie: "If you have a conscience, come in!"

Charlie entered and was amazed by the suite's size.

Charlie: "Aren't you afraid to be alone in such a large room?"

Stefanie: "Afraid? Then don't leave tonight. Stay with me."

Charlie coughed. "Men and women shouldn't share a room unless married. You're a celebrity; you must be mindful of your image. If your fans knew a man was in your room, they would be disappointed."

Stefanie: "Disappointment? Doesn't exist. Everyone knows I have a childhood sweetheart fiancé, and that I've been looking for him. If fans find you here, I'll tell them you're him."

Charlie: "No, that's bad! Stars are more popular when they're single. Announcing a relationship negatively impacts their careers."

Stefanie: "Do you think I care about being a star? The Sun family isn't as powerful as the Wade family, but I could buy half the entertainment industry anytime. I'm beyond stardom; I am stardom."

Charlie realized the Sun family’s wealth could indeed buy a significant portion of the entertainment industry.

Chapter 1404

Charlie sighed. "Okay, sit on the sofa. I'll check your pulse."

Stefanie: "Are you really good at medicine?"

Charlie: "Of course! Do you think I lied?"

Stefanie: "I thought you were using this as an excuse to get into my room"

Charlie: "I'm not that kind of person!"

Stefanie: "Don't think I'm easy. I've never held another boy's hand except yours! Even if you weren't married, and wanted to fulfill our engagement, I might not agree. You need a probationary period. You've been gone for so long; I wouldn't marry you without one!"

Charlie: "Then why are you being so forward? Fiancée, married, stepmother"

Stefanie: "It's like reserving a driver. I booked you, so you wait for me; but I can still change my mind!"

Charlie: "I'm not here to flirt! Don't you have a stomach ache? Let's get this over with so I can go home. My wife is waiting for me."

Stefanie: "You're deliberately angering me, right?"

Charlie: "No."

Stefanie: "Look how nice I am to you! I risked my health just to find you! If my stomach wasn't bothering me, why would I come to Aurous Hill to see you? I always pay for you!"

Charlie: "You've worked hard. I'll make it up to you."

Stefanie: "How?"

Charlie: "I'll cure your stomach problem. If there are further issues, I lose."

Stefanie: "Don't blow it."

She still sat down and offered her wrist. Charlie took her pulse, secretly infusing her with Reiki.

Stefanie immediately felt warmth and comfort in her stomach. The aching, bloating, acid reflux, and burning sensation disappeared!

Chapter 1405

Stefanie stared at Charlie, dumbfounded. "In Chinese medicine, the pulse is for diagnosis, not treatment. Why did you check my pulse and I'm suddenly fine?"

Charlie: "There's an acupuncture point on the wrist that treats the spleen and stomach. You thought I was checking your pulse, but I was performing acupressure."

Stefanie: "Really? It's amazing!"

Charlie: "Like rubbing your temples for a headache. My technique is just more effective."

Stefanie sighed. "I've seen so many doctors and taken so many medicines; I haven't been well for over a month. You just pressed my wrist!"

Charlie: "You called me a pig head earlier, and now 'Charlie Wade dear'? You're fickle."

Stefanie: "If you weren't married, I'd call you 'Charlie Wade darling' more often. I wouldn't scold you."

Charlie: "I know, it's my fault."

Stefanie: "My dad called; I wanted to tell him about you, but I wanted to surprise him. You're really coming to Eastcliff next week, right?"

Charlie: "I told my wife; I wouldn't lie to you. I'll be there after finishing my work."

Stefanie: "Charlie Wade, do you really have a way to cure my father's disease?"

Charlie: "I'm confident."

Stefanie: "I'll be waiting! Please heal my father!"

Charlie: "I'll do my best."

It was late; Charlie prepared to leave.

Stefanie: "Charlie Wade, won't you stay?"

Charlie: "No, it's late. I won't delay your rest."

Stefanie: "Charlie Wade, will you see me in the next two days?"

Charlie: "I'm busy, but I'll definitely be in Eastcliff next week."

Stefanie: "I'll be filming a Nova Dias commercial. If you have time, visit the set."

"Okay." Charlie left and returned to the Thompson family home.
