Chapter 1406

While Charlie Wade treated Stefanie, Nanako Ito watched her mentor, Kazuki Yamamoto, fall asleep. Wearily, she said to Tanaka Koichi, “Tanaka, please stay and care for Master. I need a break; otherwise, I'll likely miss the semifinals, let alone defeat Aurora.”

Nanako Ito, despite Yamamoto's urging her to accept Charlie Wade as a teacher, was unwilling. She felt she couldn't abandon her injured mentor, regardless of who was at fault. Deep down, she also doubted Wade would accept her as a disciple. He lacked neither money nor fondness for Japanese people; how could she impress him?

She resolved to finish the competition, then return to Japan with her teacher. This meant leaving Yamamoto's side to rest at the hotel and practice.

Hearing Nanako's plan, Jiro Kobayashi flatteringly said, “Oh, Nanako, I'm going back to the hotel too. Let's go together.”

Nanako shook her head. “No need, Mr. Kobayashi. I'll take a taxi.”

Kobayashi understood her attempt to distance herself, but wasn't angry. He knew a woman like Nanako wasn't easily conquered. To impress her, he offered valuable news: “Miss Nanako, let's go together. I'm driving the car our branch bought in Aurous Hill.”

Before she could refuse, he added, “Mr. Yamamoto isn't beyond help. I know someone who can cure him.”

“Really?!” Nanako exclaimed. “Mr. Kobayashi, are you serious? My master is unresponsive. Is there anyone who can cure him?”

Kobayashi replied calmly, “Miss Nanako, you've heard of Traditional Chinese Medicine, right?”

“Yes,” Nanako nodded. “But I believe it's better for minor ailments like headaches and fevers, or treating physical symptoms—acupuncture and cupping, for instance. Even Phelps used cupping at the Rio Olympics.”

Kobayashi continued, “Those are just common applications. A famous doctor in Aurous Hill cured a high-level paraplegic patient quickly. However, Mr. Yamamoto’s injury is different.”

Nanako immediately asked, “Such amazing people exist? Tell me, Mr. Kobayashi, who is this genius doctor!”

Kobayashi smiled. “Miss Nanako, it's a long story. Why don't we talk on the way?”

Nanako, realizing Kobayashi wanted her to ride with him, agreed. “Okay, thank you, Mr. Kobayashi!”

Chapter 1407

Kobayashi drove Nanako away from the hospital in a luxurious Mercedes-Benz. Once outside, Nanako eagerly asked, “Mr. Kobayashi, who is this genius doctor? Tell me now!”

Kobayashi nodded. “Miss Nanako, it's Dr. Simmons, a renowned Chinese medicine master. He recently cured a case of high paraplegia, a historically incurable injury.”

Nanako, healthy and unfamiliar with the medical field, knew nothing of Dr. Simmons. Intrigued, she asked, “Mr. Kobayashi, where can I find this genius doctor?”

Kobayashi sighed. “He runs a clinic called Serene Medical Clinic. However, this old doctor has a peculiar temperament and seems prejudiced against the Japanese. Persuading him to treat Mr. Yamamoto won’t be easy.”

Nanako asked, “Can't money solve this?”

Kobayashi shook his head. “If money could, my older brother wouldn't have died in Aurous Hill.”

Nanako was astonished. “Mr. Kobayashi, what do you mean? Did this genius doctor kill your brother?”

“No,” Kobayashi quickly corrected. “My brother’s death is related to him, but not because of him…”

*(Kobayashi’s internal monologue: My brother was murdered. Even if not directly by Charlie Wade, it’s connected. He coveted Dr. Simmons’s medicine and tried to steal it but was tricked. Charlie Wade was involved; they even poisoned their father. It's a complex mix of anger, gratitude, and even relief…) *

Nanako, unaware of his thoughts, asked, “Do you know where the clinic is?”

“Yes,” Kobayashi nodded. “Shall I take you there now?”

“Okay!” Nanako excitedly replied. “I’ll pay whatever it takes to have him treat my mentor!”

Chapter 1408

Dr. Simmons maintained a regular schedule: consultations Monday through Friday, closing on weekends to rest or travel with Xyla.

As he prepared to close the clinic, Kobayashi and Nanako arrived. Kobayashi warned Nanako, “Miss Nanako, don’t tell him my real name!” He feared Dr. Simmons’s anger due to his brother’s past actions.

Nanako, puzzled, asked, “Mr. Kobayashi, did you have a falling out with this genius doctor?”

Kobayashi frantically waved his hands. “No! My brother offended him, and I fear retribution. To avoid problems, call me Mr. Tanaka when you ask for Mr. Yamamoto's treatment.”

Nanako nodded, entered, and knocked. “Excuse me, is Dr. Simmons here?”

Xyla, seeing a beautiful woman, politely replied, “The doctor finished consultations for today. Please come back tomorrow.”

Nanako insisted, “Tell Dr. Simmons a patient needs his help. I’ll pay $10 million if he can cure my master, whose meridians are severed. He’s a living corpse!”

Xyla responded, “My grandfather doesn't treat people for money. If you believe money can sway him, please leave!”

Nanako apologized. “I’m sorry! I just want to show my sincerity. I heard Dr. Simmons cured a high-level paraplegic patient.”

“Severed meridians?” Xyla was dumbfounded. “Are you sure, not another condition?” She knew most people didn’t understand meridians, a concept primarily from martial arts fiction. A woman claiming her master's meridians were severed implied martial arts knowledge.

“Yes!” Nanako insisted. “The attacker said he severed them.”

Xyla asked, “How? Did he strike every meridian?”

Nanako replied, “He slapped my master once, and all his meridians were severed.”

Xyla was incredulous. “How strong is this man? Even a martial arts master would need to strike each meridian individually. One palm is impossible…”

Nanako earnestly replied, “It was just one palm! I saw it!”

Dr. Simmons emerged, stating powerfully, “I’ve never heard of such a method. Little girl, who did your master provoke?”

Nanako answered, “His surname is Wade.”

Dr. Simmons’ expression froze. “Wade? Is he young, handsome, extraordinary? A true dragon?”

Nanako hesitated. “He's handsome, relatively young, maybe 25 or 26.”

Dr. Simmons’s face turned cold. “A joke! Your master provoked Master Wade, who severed his meridians. And you dare ask me to treat him?!”

Chapter 1409

Nanako was shocked to learn Charlie Wade was the "Master Wade" and "true dragon" in Dr. Simmons’s eyes. Japanese culture, influenced by China, also revered dragons. She couldn't understand why an old man would call a young man a "true dragon." She didn’t know of Charlie Wade's profound impact on Dr. Simmons, whose medical skills and pill-making abilities had astonished the doctor.

Simmons highly respected Wade, whose gifts greatly benefitted him.

Nanako humbly pleaded, “My mentor offended Mr. Wade impulsively. She is guilty, but please show compassion and help!”

Dr. Simmons firmly stated, “Little girl, Master Wade saved my life. I opened this clinic to repay him. Anyone who offends Master Wade is my enemy. I won’t insult you, but I ask you to leave!”

Nanako choked with sobs. “You can't refuse to save him!”

Dr. Simmons gestured, “I have a clear conscience. No more words, please leave!”

He told Xyla to show her out. Nanako, still begging, was dismissed. Kobayashi followed silently, fearing retribution for his brother's actions.

Outside, Kobayashi tried to console Nanako. "Miss Nanako, don't worry. This master is eccentric. We can rest and return another day. Like the Chinese saying 'Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage,' we can try again."

Nanako shook her head. "I saw the doctor's eyes. He won't change his mind. We must approach Mr. Wade."

"Charlie Wade?!"

Chapter 1410

Kobayashi felt a chill. “Miss Nanako, stay away from Charlie Wade! He's dangerous. Don't contact him. Don't follow Mr. Yamamoto’s suggestion to become his disciple. He's unfriendly to Japanese; that's why he severed Mr. Yamamoto's meridians after hearing ‘sick man of East Asia’!”

Nanako nodded. “I didn't think he’d accept me. I just hope he can help my teacher or convince Dr. Simmons.”

Kobayashi asked, “Will you seek Charlie Wade?”

“Today.”

“Today?! It’s night!”

“Yes! Now!”

Nanako firmly told Kobayashi, “I know where he lives—Thompson First. Please take me there.”

“No! Absolutely not!” Kobayashi knew Wade's difficult nature. Going to him would be fruitless and possibly dangerous.

Nanako clarified, “I'm not challenging him. I just want to ask for help. I'll pay any price for my teacher’s cure.”

Kobayashi sighed. “Fine. Since you insist…”

Charlie Wade received a call from Dr. Simmons. Simmons described a woman who sought his help, mentioning severed meridians, and asking if Wade did it.

Wade admitted, “If I’m correct, it’s Nanako Ito. I severed her master, Yamamoto Kazuki’s, meridians for his insult.”

“Japanese!” Simmons angrily said. “Last time, Japanese tried to steal your medicine! Barbarians causing trouble!”

Wade indifferently smiled. “They’ve knelt behind us for millennia. They're arrogant after a few centuries of progress. ‘Barbarians’ fits perfectly.”

Simmons reassured Wade, “Master Wade, don’t worry, I won’t let her in!”

Wade smiled. “Though her master was rude, the girl was polite. If she asks again, no need to embarrass her. We should be fair.”
